We all know the stigma attached to movie tie-in games. They always seem to over-promise and under-deliver. However, Smurfs 2 has the distinct advantage of not having anyone with any preconceived notions about how a Smurfs game should play. This gives the game the ability to do its own thing and be judged for the product, not the hype. In the end, you get a better product. Smurfs 2 is not something that the hardcore gamer would be interested in, but if you have kids and some leftover nostalgia for the Smurfs franchise, you might be in for a pleasant surprise.
With children now overcome with Smurf-fever, a movie tie in game has been released to coincide with the most recent movie. The surprise is, its actually good!
Hardcore Gamer: The Smurfs 2 game has been available for a month and the film it's based on is a domestic flop (good going, France!), but that's not stopping Ubisoft from releasing a new trailer.
Smurfs 2 is a movie tie-in, but it's not as awful as you'd think. In fact, if you play with a little one, you may pull some enjoyment from it.
And we gamers thank you for it, because there are some young kids that might enjoy this game.
