Over the weekend Slowpoke101 – Founder of Feed The Beast (FTB) streamed on popular video game streaming site Twitch.tv. During his cast he spoke about the future of FTB and where he would like to see them in 12 months. They talked about merchandise, amongst other things. One subject that caught my attention was “FTB’s involvement in a game other than Minecraft”…. TUG.
TUG offers a massive procedurally-generated world to explore, featuring 13 unique biomes
including complex cave systems and day/night cycles. The gameplay focuses on crafting,
exploration, pvp, and role-playing, with an emphasis on immersion and player freedom.
I got this game a year ago and it was not that great but this latest update looks a lot better.
Procedurally generated games are great, but finding a way to get to places sucks. "It's next to the tree and the rock."
I agree they are nice for the exploration but playing with others gets to be a pain unless they have a decent map and tracking system.
Tyler Colp writes: "TUG, if you don’t remember, is the game that became the replacement for the failed Yogscast Kickstarter project. It’s also the game that saw its development team hit with layoffs after an investor held back its money last year. The developer found another investor, hired back the team, and has now added multiplayer to the “indev” version, which is an earlier-than-early-access build available for testing.
As TUG nears its second year of development, here’s some things you should keep an eye on."
