Warmachine is a turn-based tabletop miniatures game that has players facing off against each other using armies of soldiers, sorcerers and bipedal machs called Warjacks. In 2003 Privateer Press started publishing and manufacturing the game and in the last decade it has enjoyed a fair amount of success. Competing with the likes of giants like Warhammer, BattleTech and Necromunda is no easy task. These are franchises who've had years to flesh out their stories and they've also accumulated hundreds of thousands of fans all around the world. When these companies want to make the jump to other forms of media you best watch out for their landings.
Xeno of Morbid Play writes, "There are many table top war games to choose from. Some set in the real world, so many set in worlds of fantasy and even more in the far future but for me my table top war game of choice is Warmachine. For me it’s low price point of entry, rich setting, crazy units and powers just make it a wonderful game to play. So when White Moon Dreams announced they were making a Warmachine video game and as a Turn based Strategy game no less, I was suitably excited."
Privateer Press and indie game developer WhiteMoon Dreams, Inc have teamed up to re-imagine the award-winning tabletop game WARMACHINE as a turn-based strategy game for PC and Mac.
Warmachine Tactics is, the clue is in the name, a small 3D turn based tactics game. By small I am not being insulting, I mean rather than controlling large amounts of units or squads you control a modest amount of individual troops. Developed by privateer press interactive and having its roots humbly started by Kickstarter it is based in the world of Warmachine – a Table top steam punk game.
