The Force Unleashed - Wii-mote as Lighsaber Tested

Gameplayer have gone live with a hands-on preview of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed which includes trying out combat with the Wii-mote. They go into some detail about how it plays.

"Ever since the Nintendo Wii got announced we've always wanted a game that would use the Wii-mote like a lightsaber; because there truly is nothing cooler than the neeeeowwww vroooooom of the famous laser sword."

They should make a Lightsaber periphial for PS3 so I don't have to get both the wii and PS3 versions. Would be nice if they made a trilogy out of the force unleashed. Maybe even made a game to movie conversion someday too. Seems theres no way to fully enjoy this but to get at least 2 versions.

The problem is: choice means gains and losses. High definition graphics or cooler controls?

leon766292d ago (Edited 6292d ago )

At 1.1. the problem is that the second, cooler controls, is possible in the PS3, but the first one high definition graphics is completly impossible in the wii, sorry!

Even I have to admit that would be pretty cool.

It's likely that the versions w/ better graphics will also cost $10 more.

This game is shaping up really nice.

Edit: @Mont: The Ps3/ 360 versions don't only look better, but the physics systems/AI will really bring the possibilities to a whole new level since they're running three engines as opposed to one on the wii.

Why is this in the PSP and PS3 sections?

j4gs146292d ago

i wonder how long its going to take for sum 1 to try sueing nintendo for damages with the saber? sh!ts gna get broken n people r gna get hurt with a saber being swung around.

But using my wii remote as a lightsabre would be one of them! I've not been the greatest fan of the wii (I have one) and it's hardly been touched other than for playing Zelda and RE. PS3 is my main gaming console. However, I would seriously consider getting the Force Unleashed on the wii if I could wield a remote like a lightsabre ... (I actually have one of the life size ones that turn on make all the sounds)

I must stop grinning otherwise people will know I'm not working ;) haha

force unleashed is a great game. Thankfully the 360 version is bc on the XBO/Series. It looks and plays even better than on original hardware.

I am not a Star Wars fan but I enjoyed the Force Unleashed and the sequel. Shadows of the Empire was another Star Wars game I also enjoyed.

I had Shadows of the Empire on N64 and I used to finish that game basically weekly. LOVED that game.
