But the comparison doesnt ends here ES is atlest decent Fallout is being compared to JRPG's which get review like 6 or 5 and its said that it nothing in front of them.

This is the first time ive not known anything about a game, and am still really hyped for it. Never played the first Fallouts, and i barely know anything about this one. But, thanks to MK Red, Im really exited for this game.

Also, I hate the lack of a dynamic lighting engine.

Nothing casts dynamic shadows in Bethesda's games except characters. And even so, your character's shadow only shows in 3rd person, not in 1st person.

Bethesda's got the gameplay and technique nailed down, but not the graphics aspect at ALL.

I'm not even remotely interested in Fallout, until they can make an engine that creates better atmosphere. And that means dynamic lighting and shadows.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. did it, so can Fallout. They're similar, and since I've played S.T.A.L.K.E.R., I'm expecting more from other apocalyptic-type games.

It's extremely important to make objects in the world look GROUNDED in reality...not just lifeless set-pieces with no real relevance.

Isn't this the PC version and anothing thing the game isn't finished, if it stays like this its going to be because of the PS3 its a classic PS3 quality; 360 games easily solves the issues you speak of but if the PS3 can't pull it off the devs will hani-capp the game, well atleast the 360 version not the PC version.

I do agree that as of now this game is no Splinte Cell Conviction when it comes to advanced lighting engines etc.

There is nothing wrong with helping call out someone that is trying to start a platform war as long as the person isn't degraded (i.e. insulted or attacked). This game does have potential for GOTY and it doesn't matter what platform it's coming to just the quality of it's content. There is no reason to bring up what console it's for unless your trying to figure out what console it's for in regards to a purchase or for it's smaller details, as in achievements or future Home potential.

First, let me tell you this : Fallout 1 and 2 were never, ever about the graphics. The graphics were only good enough to do the job.

That being said, Fallout 2 (I never finished 1) was awesome. There was so much depth to the game that it was amazing how you could play through the game.

It was also filled with a whole crapload of humor, something a lot of games lack these days.

Fallout 3 looks to be taking the same gameplay elements of 1 and 2 and just melding them into 3-D space.

Though I'm not positive, I believe you can play the game (turned base) just like 1 or 2, or you can play "real time", which would probably be a KOTOR-like fight, with variables, etc. calculated in the background.

IF...IF Bethesda gets this right, it'll be an awesome game. Fallout 2 was and is still an awesome game, and if you can find an old copy I'd suggest anyone play through it -- It's old enough to run on just about any PC operational today ;)

According to what I read, turn-based combat requires some sort of 'points' system. Once you lose your points, you are forced to revert back to real-time combat until you regain your turn-based action points, which I think is done through combat.

@cputeq: sadly you couldn't be more wrong, our Bethesda "pals" yet again have exchanged pretty much EVERYTHING of the original Fallout gameplay for their classic mainstream simplicity and easy satisfaction/gain type of gameplay

sadly there is no more turn based combat now its a basic 1st/3rd person shooter mechanics and the whole turn based points effect system has been replaced with twitch gameplay as they did with Oblivion

as far as we know the skill and perks system is COMPLETELY pointless cuz everyone that has played the original knows both skill and perks directly affected stuff related to the points for the turnbased actions and it was crucial to understand how to managed the points for combat and stay alive now that the combat is simple aim and click (why go thru all the hard work for the Sniper perk when you can just aim at the head and click!) both Skills and perks will probably be redesigned by Bethesda to be some kind of gimmick, did I mentioned that Bethesda as usual eliminated some Skill and Perks? but any one familiar with their games would remember how on each Elder Scroll sequel they seem to cut out more stuff than the one they add

but don't worry in some kind of bizarre attempt to pretend to keep the original gameplay there is the VATS system that is a very poor attempt to make you think turn based actions and point still matter...by pausing the game to allow you to target and see your kills in slow motion! YAY!

but all be in the name of attraction a more mainstream $ audience $ that would probably find all the deep and complex combat and gamplay in the original Fallouts WAY to complicated and that is a BIG NO NO in the Bethesda mentality

ANYONE that ever had the curiosity to know what the Fallout games are all about and why are they considered so legendary and are featured in many "greatest games" should just go and buy the Fallout Collection that features the first 3 games ($15)...cuz Fallout 3 is not where to start and not even remotely reflects why Fallout became so legendary...which is pretty sad

Bethesda isnt THAT bad. You make them sound like EA. YES we're all going to miss the old Fallout, but Bethesda is the best pair of hands Interplay could have given the license to (beside maybe Bioware).
I can tell you didn't like Oblivion, but myself, along with many other wrpg fans did. Yes, it oversimplified gameplay, what can you do ? What would you rather, a game like Oblivion, or a game like the ps2 Brotherhood of Steel ? THAT was a bad game.

But since the good people at Bethesda never played the original Fallout games, they don't know what a ghoul looks like, so they just imported the zombie models from Oblivion. Along with the crappy dialogue system and other flawed gameplay elements.

Can't wait for this to come out. I've never played a Fallout game (never had a comp as a kid in the house) so i missed out. But the storyline and some of the announced perks sound cool. Though i preferred one of the perks that didn't win in their fan contest (the one where a random object falls out of the sky onto the opponents head when you're dieing). I hope it has some deep gameplay.

I started to play Fallout 1 and 2 again. I find it now even better than few years ago. So many possibilities (compared to present games). F1 was generally shorter and somehow darker. If you haven´t played them and you do not want- just check some walkthrough to make a brief picture about the gameplay of original fallout. (Per Jorner´s walkthrough is imo the best).

I do enjoy posts about multi-platform games compared to exclusive games. There aren't people spaming away about how an exclusive looks bad compared to something else exclusive to the system that they own. I really don't see how they can go wrong with Fallout 3. The game looks great.
