I hope Sony buys them persona is really a ps game and its where it should be not Nintendo.

MrMister4324d ago

It's entirely possible since Persona4 is one of Yoshida's favorite games of all time (he said Chie is his fave character too). Plus "Aniplex" (a company owned by Sony Computer Entertainment) produces and distributes Persona 4 The Animation and the upcoming Persona 3 movies (which will be in multiple installments)

So Sony certainly has a foot in the door. All that talk about Nintendo buying Atlus is cute. There isn't a shread of evidence. Just a phony article. Besides Nintendo banned "The Binding of Isaac" for religious offensiveness. I don't think games like Catherine or games where u fight against Yahweh/God will sit well with them (assuming Nintendo wanted to buy Atlus like all these fake articles claim).

Tunavenom4324d ago (Edited 4324d ago )

"I don't think games like Catherine or games where u fight against Yahweh/God will sit well with them."

What about Xenoblade?

Donnieboi4324d ago

One thing is for sure. If it wasn't for that fake article about Nintendo buying Atlus, then this never would have blown up. But the internet has caught on to the lie now. Good facts u pointed out there, though.

Either way, multiplatform is still best. Plus no worries of it being censored or watered-down. Especially if whatever 3rd party buying them ACKNOWLEDGES that they won't water it down.

gamer424324d ago (Edited 4324d ago )

I remember seeing this article with the list of companies Index owed money to. they seem to owe alot to Kodokawa and nintendo and it also seems they owe some to Aniplex (Sony) and Sega. So it seems those for are viable options to sell atlus to.

Since Atlus has a long history with Nintendo and Sony, the two companies should be familer with Atlus' quality work If either one decide to buy Atlus it wouldn't surprise me. You can have an opinion on who Atlus should be with, but you shouldn't completely rule out nintendo's likeliness to buy out atlus

EngieBengie4324d ago

JUST because of Persona? Versus Nintendo's mainline Shin Megami Tensei, Trauma Center, Etrian Odyssey, Snowboard Kids, Soul Hackers and Radiant Historia?

CouldHaveYelledUiiW4324d ago

If they can, Nintendo should.

-But Atlus would be a great acquire for any company even for a Tablet content maker.

XboxFun4324d ago

Nintendo should definitely pick them up. They would be the best fit for this company.

MrMister4324d ago

Best 3rd party option in my opinion. Lots of money ($14 billion worth) or more, and everyone wins if on all systems. But I get mad that this rumor even started about Nintendo in the first place over some lame site. And to say nintendo is the BEST choice? That's like saying Nintendo is the best choice to buy Rockstar. Just no. Maybe people think Nintendo is a good choice, but it's FAR from the most ideal. Especially with the fact they have a strict region locking policy, and will conflict with Sony (Aniplex) who financially produces and distributes Atlus's films and even their game soundtracks.

EngieBengie4324d ago

Atlus isn't the same thing as Rockstar. Rockstar is an american company specialized in american AAA games, something Nintendo doesn't focus on for the majority of the time while Atlus is mostly JRPG something Nintendo is more familiar with. Not to mention, Atlus' relationship with Nintendo ship dates back to the NES days and has been pretty good while Rockstar and Nintendo are pretty distant. So, this comparison is bad.

MrMister4324d ago (Edited 4324d ago )

@Ernie&Bernie:

Your the one who is making the poor comparison. I was comparing Rockstar and SMT based on their controversial games (just like how not all R* games are always controversial, the same goes for Atlus--but a good number of them are).

But your talking about comparing what region they come from? That doesn't correlate at all with what I was talking about.

I understand if you dissagree, but I feel like I am wasting time arguing when you missed the point entirely. I'll only respond to those who apply logic, even if it doesn't always agree with my opinion. But I can't be bothered to engage in a conversation with someone so baseless. I haven't the time or the patience to lower my intelligence to engage in a conversation With someone who is attempting to misconstrue my words: Your comparing apples and oranges--Your Not exactly the sharpest knife in the cabinet, huh mate?

all this talk about Nintendo buying Atlus...
this'll be interesting...

well, the switch 2 has two holidays in the us, thanksgiving and Christmas.

so id say its fairly possible. the rest of the world will also grab them

Abriael17d ago

Yeah doesn't seem out of the realm of possibility as long as they have enough supply.

Si-Fly17d ago

Do people buy each other games consoles for Thanksgiving? I’m in Europe and always assumed it was just Christmas where gifts were exchanged.

Skate-AK17d ago

I don't think it's so much Thanksgiving, but that Black Friday is the day after.

darthv7217d ago (Edited 17d ago )

That time is often referred to as the start of the Xmas shopping season. For the last few years, retailers would do 'black Friday' deals at various times throughout the year. While many still prefer to start their shopping in the mid to late November, others will just buy when they feel the time (and prices) are right for them.

gold_drake16d ago

i guess its more black friday, should have been more clear ha

GotGame81816d ago (Edited 16d ago )

Thanksgiving kicks off the Christmas Holiday.

Switch and Switch are a different kettle of fish. A sell out at launch by the diehards, strong sales, then the non diehards will be put off by the £75 ($99) games, including the stupid download cards which are topping £65 ($85). Not rocket science to work out how the Switch 2 is going to pan out. The PS5 has sold well, but games at £70, sales have been low. As game sales drop, prices will rise. Sony could knock out all their games for £40 and still make a killing selling more games. There's no denying that a gaming crash is looming.

Rancegamerx17d ago

I agree, I don't see the Switch 2 selling anywhere near the numbers that these predictions suggest or what the general buzz is implying. While the initial sales will likely be strong, driven by diehard fans, I anticipate a gradual decline. It may not drop off immediately, but over time, sales will inevitably taper.

PRIMORDUS17d ago

Not paying for something that's not worth more than the price it was advertised, which is $449 - $499.

Why Portability Still Matters for Nintendo Switch 2—and What We’re Hoping to See

Nintendo Switch 2 upgrades portability with a bigger screen, 1080p handheld play, and Wi-Fi 6. Here's why it still matters in 2025.

As someone who travels for work I still care about portable systems.

I have found using remote play in a hotel room is an excellent experience in a major city as I've got my console hard wired to a gigabit connection at home however it's not perfect if power trips the console tends to go to the repair section and can't be booted remotely so it's a annoying call to family to power it on for me.

A hotel out of town or regionally though that can cause havok for remote play as I'm always on 5g using it hotel wifi is never good enough for a solid remote play session.

But leaving a stable location and getting onto a plane or train and there's little to no chance of a good experience with remote play thats where something like the switch 2 will really shine for me personally long haul flights are exhausting and one of my most hated things the switch has been invaluable for me and I'll absolutely be upgrading

Goodguy0127d ago

Nintendo has always done it the best, handheld is in their genes. I do wish their dock could be like an egpu though and it make it much more powerful, it's a bit harder for me to play portable now for some odd reason, love just sitting on the couch with a big screen and controller. And ofc always great to have the portable option and for me it's best for smaller games.

jznrpg27d ago

I was hoping for a little more than 540p upscaled

UltimateOwnage27d ago

IMO, 540P upscaled in portable mode to a 1080P screen using DLSS on the tensor cores will likely extend battery life using a lower TDP and provide much better anti-aliasing and similar clarity compared to native 1080P with med/low AA at a higher TDP. It’s just a better way to use a mobile chipset. That’s not a flaw or weakness, it’s a key benefit for the portable design of the platform.

repsahj26d ago

Lol, even the impressive upscaling feature of Switch 2 can now spin to a negative one.

jznrpg26d ago (Edited 26d ago )

Switch 1 was hitting 720p and above that with no upscale, so why can’t they have a higher res and upscale it more

repsahj26d ago

@jznrpg
Because of that even the current gen games will now run on switch 2 that looked as good and with decent framerate as the current gen consoles.

Do you watch Nintendo's hands on preview for switch 2? LOL.

badz14926d ago

because aside from Nintendo's own games which have their dedicated fanbase, portability is the only other thing it has going for it. Nintendo will be eliminated faster than xbox if they ever decide to do a dedicated home console again. going the hybrid way is the only way left for them and they are lucky they dominated the portable market all those years ago. imagine the power of the Switch 2 as a console this day and age with the same price as PS5. they will be the laughing stock of the market.
