Kinect users can monitor reactions beyond the games, indicate patents

The new Kinect motion sensor in the Xbox One, is a tool for turbocharged players: sees better, hear better and understand better who is ahead. The device, however, has the potential to be the window that Microsoft and advertisers need to collect data from the offline world of your customers.

Three Microsoft patents that were recently discovered, show some of the company's intentions.

A lot of this sounds so invasive. I hope I can opt out from disclosing info to advertisers regarding my gameplay habits etc.

Blah.. More old duplicate posts because its anti-ms

Patents are not intentions.. Sony has some pretty interesting patents on file as well.. All tech companies do..

There are companies with patents for diseases.. Doesn't mean they want to spread them..

"It is clear that, by their nature, patents can only serve to describe concepts that will never become reality, but they demonstrate what the company imagines for the future.

The three records date from 2010 to 2012,"

Making TV more interactive. Do people really want this? When I watch TV i do it because I like the programme. I don't want achievements. Also recording peoples behaviour might seem like a bad move since the recent issue of NSA

They just don't seem to realize that people value their privacy. As I'm posting this I'm living in NYC. But for all the net knows I'm in Iceland with a 2048 bit encrypted connection.

Just to counterpoint this..

If the government was tracking you.. That's not fooling anyone..

Just saying.. Americans have privacy concerns.. But they aren't Microsoft's doing.. They are hugely popular services that specifically deal with storing your data.. So when feds come calling with a warrant.. Guess what happens?

Don't use these services if your really worried.. But blame your government for the reason your privacy is at risk

why bring up sony in here sheesh gtfoh with that

n4rc4352d ago

Why?

Don't want to hear the truth?
The point is just because an company has a patent for something doesn't mean its going to implement it..

You realize a big part of patents is to keep anyone from doing it in the first place..

Lots of Improvements Coming to MythForce on June 26

"First-person roguelikes like Gunfire Reborn and Roboquest can be quite fun when done well. Another such game is MythForce, which comes from Beamdog, the developer that brought Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 to modern platforms (while mostly ditching the co-op). MythForce features cartoon-like visuals and a fantasy theme, making it quite different from most of its peers. It will soon reach its "final form" via the upcoming Version 1.2 update," says Co-Optimus.
