As the Lone Ranger prepares to flop , how do you solve a problem like Disney?
All righty then, says Disney – let’s try again. The only way we can be sure to repeat Pirates’ success is to repeat Pirates’ crew list – get us Gore Verbinski, Johnny Depp, Jerry Bruckheimer, Hans Zimmer and writers Ted Elliot and Terry Rossio. Surely this will work this time around.
Suffice to say, even though we’re now past a week since its release in the USA, The Lone Ranger is still a way off earning even $100 million – nowhere near its $215-250 million production costs. Not even Johnny Depp can be counted on as a ‘bankable star’ this time.
