Classic, GameCube Controllers Gimped For Mario Kart

The latest fact sheet handed to Kotaku from Nintendo contains some notes on the game's four control schemes. Here's what it says for the Classic and GameCube controls:

• Classic Controller: Mario Kart veterans can let their thumbs do the driving with the Classic Controller. However, players cannot perform certain moves with this control scheme.

• Nintendo GameCube Controller: Experienced Mario Kart fans may also enjoy this familiar scheme, although some manoeuvres cannot be performed.

In other words, maneuvers than could otherwise be mapped to a button on the Classic or Gamecube controller, won't. While I am happy that Nintendo is including support for the traditional control scheme to begin with, this is lame.

1) Nintendo doesn't want you to have an advantage by using the conventional controller - that would make all the hype about the supposed genius of the new controller seem a little contrived.

2) They can sell that stupid plastic wheel that has a manufacturing costs of about 50 cents (just a guess) for 15 dollars.

This generation Nintendo is all about making money and not about giving a great value for your dollar - IMO - so I am waiting until the price drops before I even consider a Wii.

Everyones making lots of money by nickel and diming this generation. Its what they do, at least they are giving you the wheel with the game for the 49.99 price. If other poeple want to play the game with the wiimote they can just use that.

On topic this is totally gay, because for more traditional type of games i like using jsut the wavebird.

I wonder what moves you won't be able to do? Is it little things or are they major?

Never understood what 64 meant. Can anyone enlighten me? All I know is my neighborhood friends and I used to play the crap out of it. Favorite games were Cool Boarders, Mario kart 64, WCW vs NWO just to name a few. Man life was simple and good.
