Fallout 3 Will Be Game of the Year in 2008

You heard it here first. Forget about GTA IV. Forget about Gears of War 2. Forget about Metal Gear Solid 4. All of those games are going to be awesome, yes. All of those games are going to sell millions. But one game from Bethesda Softworks is going to rise to the top in 2008 and claim the crown for game of the year. That game is Fallout 3. As creators of the critically acclaimed Elder Scrolls series, Bethesda has firmly established itself as one of the leading RPG game designers on consoles.

Currently in development for the Xbox 360 and PS3, Fallout 3 is set in the United States after a nuclear war in the year 2077 kills almost everyone on the entire planet. After the nuclear fallout, only a handful of humans who took refuge in Vault 101 in Washington DC are thought to have survived. For 200 years Vault 101 has remained closed…awaiting the day when it is safe to emerge into a world that is completely decimated, and where radiation has mutated those who survived outside the safety of Vault 101.

Fallout 3 is multiplatform and I doubt it will get released in 2008 it will get delayed to 2009.

Well regardless the competition this yr will be tough. I don't thing it will be Gears 2 because this will be its 2nd outing on the next gen systems. MGS4, Fable 2, LBP, Fallout 3 to me are the top candidates. It will probably go to fallout too. Since it is multi plat they wouldn't want to upset any fanboys lol

Didn't they say they were just wrapping up Fallout 3 or close to it, and it's to have 200 endings or something crazy like that? Actually here's a quote,"Todd says the game is finished and on track for Fall 2008, but needs a ton of testing and polishing." If anything Killzone 2 will be pushed back to 2009.

I think Fallout 3 will have a hard time getting GOTY since Bioshock pretty much won last year, and there are a lot of caparisons to be drawn. Kind of a steep hill for it to climb, but it looks up for it I suppose.

Either way MGS4 will be GOTY in my mind I'm sure.

Are honestly expecting KZ2 to be better than Fallout 3? You know Bethesda Softworks is responsible for The Elder Scrolls series -- currently, Bethesda Softworks' Oblivion IV is the second best game available on the PS3 (at 93/100 second only to CoD4's 94/100).

Yep, keep downplaying Killzone 2 because that will work to its advantage. Games that take the longest to develop and cost the most money usually will turn out good. Killzone 2 and MGS4 are the safest bets for 2008. GTA4 is also a safe bet but its coming out too early and by the end of the year the games will be way more technologically advanced than GTA4. Fallout 3 will not make it this year!

Its going to be slow and poopy with pointless gameplay like crawling around in the middle of a heated bullet riddled field like a worm.

Walking up on AI's that look as sharp as Cattle while you pull your magic Zelda pouch out and grab a magic barrel out of it tricking the AI with a barrel in the middle of the street or path when it wasn't there the first rat in a Maze-like patrol, its corny to me.

After that you'll use this magic barrel to
roll down the street with it making noise with 3 or 4 AI's that are suppose to smart looking out" not knowing its snake! coming at them in a magic barrel untill they get hit.

The Robo Wolf that howls is just silly. Snakes Robot running around like a G@Y man in a g@y pride parade in San Francisco is just gut wrenching and whats with that Gaint flying Chicken with strings?.

Old school and corny. MGS4 does have its cult following though. The last one sold around 3 and a half million with a base of 120 million.

Storyline too complicated for you little man dont worry you still have the space power ranger game to keep you happy you know with its bright ass colors its generic storyline and as much innovations as a new edition can of worms.

You complain about the ai but find me an ai that does all the following in one game without being scirpted into the storyline AKA anywhere Anytime:

A) Call for backup
B) Change weapons (not just to grenades but actual sidearms)
C) Clear rooms and make "elaborate" search patterns
D) Act differently when shot in different places and dont return to normal status until it heals itself.
E) Usual shooter stuff take cover if available, flank you etc.
G) React differently if rations and ammunition are available or not including radios for backup

Youll find it hard pressed the only one that people want to bring up is splinter cell buts like most of the games you want to compare it too they only do less than half of what i pointed out.

So you are knocking on every game that allow you to carry more than you are physicaly able to do... you must hate most games then.

And you dont knock when dumb ass enemies just charge at you like horny puppies like Geow and Halo on the lowwer difficulties,using big ass hammers and light swords in gunfights, long most of time boring and useless dialogue of mass effect?. You obviously only saw the demonstration vieo which was on easy since if they see something move theyll shoot it just like the caardboard box but then again you know absolutely nothing about mgs yet you believe you need to inform us your generic fanboy opinion.

Edit2: Disagree all you want in overall game of the year for 2006 GeOW was a no show while Okami, Twilight princess, Wii Sports and Oblivion were called up more. It was the 360 game of the year in many cases even the graphics tech and action game of the year ill give you readers choice but it wasnt overall game of the year. The only site i recall giving it to GeOW was Gamespot and their credibility is meh but if you wanna stand by it go for it.

I love Fallout 1 & 2 but I disagree. It's not the same game by a long shot, I trust Bethesda but it seems mostly like a different game set in the same universe. If they pull it off like the old Black Isle games it will be 100% game of the year, but I have doubts they can do it.

I don't think Gears 2 will get it plainly because they can't make another innovative, original action game using an existing property. It's basically gonna be a continuation of the same game with some nifty additions (like the rumoured Chainsaw Duels).

I think GTAIV could do it, or LittleBigPlanet (mainly because of its originality and quirkiness).
