F.R.E.Q. 7 Headset Review - XCLANN

Not to long ago we reviewed the F.R.E.Q. 5 Headset from Mad Catz along with their highly popular and successful Cyborg range of PC gaming accessories. At the time we gave this headset 5 stars for the quality of the sound it produced during gaming sessions as well as everyday applications such as plugging it into your phone or IPod. We really didn’t think they could be improved upon, until now! The guys over at Mad Catz have only managed to make it better by releasing the F.R.E.Q.7, now with 7.1 Dolby Surround.

Very good headset for the price, but, if you have the cash, I still recommend eating the difference and going with the Astro sets. An A50 or new A40, to be specific.
Sound quality is about the same, but the overall comfort of the two are pretty much night and day. A friend owns a pair and they aren't nearly as comfortable.

FREQ 7 Gaming Headset Review - Gaming Nexus

From the review: "The F.R.E.Q. 7 is a great headset and is officially my new go-to headset for my PC and mobile devices. While the 7.1 support is virtual and software driven, meaning only accessible on the PC, the quality of sound that comes from even the standard connection is awesome. It sounds great, feels great, and is more portable than most 7.1 compatible offerings. This would be almost perfect if it didn’t rely on the software as much as it does."
