Microsoft's brand power has been in sharp decline over the past four years, an indication the company is losing credibility and mindshare with U.S. business users, according to a recent study by market research firm CoreBrand.

While their console seem to be doing well, their OS, media player, and web browser no longer has the whatever positive reputation they used to have. In terms of the PC software, the only ones I still have some respect for is Office, Project, and Visio. But aside from productivity software, they have lagged behind competitors.

Most who own a pc use M$ OS because they monopolized the market. I ran M$ OS pc for years, and just recently switched to a Mac with a MAC OS, and MAC OS runs so much smoother without the hassle, which is the reason why media friendly users choose mac. The problem due to the monopoly M$ has some files don't work straight off the bat, but there are lots of simple ways around that. If you're not too much of a blind fanboy I suggest next time going , and picking yourself up a mac instead, which now have option to run either system out of the box there is no reason anymore not to, although if M$ lost it's stranglehold on the market as it already has there will be no reason whatsoever to run the M$ OS at all. Also your comments about ps3 failed is entirely fabricated, and makes you lose all credibility since both consoles are pretty much in the same boat right now except the ps3 has just started picking up steam.

edit: Playboy you assumed he uses a M$ OS so you indeed acted like it's the only OS around when in-fact he doesn't use it. Lets be honest here, and tell me who's full of nonsense? Also never say always because as the saying goes, "Todays empires tomorrows ashes."

My feelings towards MS had been neutral until the last couple of years. Now I feel they are nothing but a junk peddler.

Vista is bloated junk. I just got a new laptop and the first thing I did was upgrade it to XP. Took around 2 hours to find the separate drivers for each component but it was worth it.

360 is faulty junk. And it does not help that they still don't seem serious about improving quality control even after coughing up $1 billion.

Zune is unnecessarily complicated junk. Tried for about an hour to get one to sync and just gave up. Put the install disc in and it directs me to a site to dl a newer version. DL the newer version and it tell you you are missing a component. It directs me to yet another site with the missing component. DL the component and it still doesn't work. Can't I just frickin' drag and drop songs on to my frickin' MP3 player? (BTW this is the same reason I don't like Ipods)

The failure rate on 360 surprised me it was my first MS console. I do hope they turn things around. I appreciate the efforts they have made in the industry. I enjoy XP too.

really now every company has it's ups and downs. take sony for example, they struggled at the begining of this gen. they lost credibility and they made a couple of bad decisions. but like every big company they learned from their mistakes and picked up the pace and are now on the right track.

sure Microsoft had a couple of hard hits(talking pc software cause the 360 is doing better than it's predecessor) and their operating system
isn't reliable but it will be with a bit of tweaking. and with the amount of capital money Microsoft has i don't they're going anywhere soon.

the only thing that i really lost faith in is my 360 not rrod on me, it happened twice and if there is a third one i don't care how cheap the thing is, i ain't buying one.

With lackluster software such as Windows Vista and below-poor hardware such as XBOX 360, it's plausible for Microsoft to simple sell their stock and gracefully bow out of the electronics industry. The people will have been served a great favor with the departure of Microsoft.

With waning Xbox 360 support, Dark Sniper can boldly state that the aformentioned software will be obsolete by 2010.

at my College we did a presentation and a student took his Vista laptop to the projector plugs it in then hits the fn(function key) then the screen out sigh you would not guess what vista did to him in front of the whole class? Take a second ..........

The mouse froze. It just would not move, Press and hold the power to force it to shut down it boots back up and still the mouse is unable to move. Embarrassment of an operating system I have Vista and felt his pain since sometimes the signal of the wireless card just drops and I have to right click the computer icon, than manage, network adapters disable the wireless card then enable it to work and no rebooting it does not work it's just a shaky operating system. Currently I have another hard drive that has Ubuntu 8.04 Beta on it I want to know how to do the switch for the laptop to output the screen to a projector so I could make a full conversion from Windows to Linux that is the only thing that is holding me back. People say Linux is not user friendly but when you see a brand new laptop crash like that you start to question your own laptop.
