Ace Combat 7 is one of the best games of the past generation. It doesn't need VR gimmicks to "redeem" it.
I have enjoyed nearly every single Ace Combat to death (except that helicopter shooting one) and have never needed VR once to enjoy it greatly
^^^ I'm guessing you've never actually tried it in VR then? VR elevates games like this way beyond just a gimmick, just ask any GT fan who owns a PSVR 2. You may not need VR to have a good time but it's an absolute game changer and something that shouldn't be dismissed as a gimmick.

Spoken like someone who never played it. But who are we kidding. We know why VR hate. No one is fooled here.
@PapaBop: I tried it in VR before any of you ever did, since the game wasn't even out yet. It's a gimmick, disjointed from the AC7's main gameplay and far removed from its best parts.
It's nothing more than a limiting factor, as Ace Combat's most complex missions require hardware power to be focused on other things. That's why the VR missions are very basic.
If you think Ace Combat's strengths are even close to the platform it's on, VR or non-VR, you obviously aren't an Ace Combat fan.
In any case, I suggest you folks prepare yourself for disappointment. There's a reason why the VR gimmick was never expanded, and it's that, besides a few fanatics who care for evangelizing their VR fad more than they care for the franchise, no one gave a flying F.
The developers are going to use the resources to make the whole game better for everyone instead.
Can we get a new Ace Combat, with full vr and not just three or four levels, for PS5 and PSVR2
Also if we could get a remake of my all time favorite, Ace Combat5: The Unsung War, again with full vr for every mission with DualSense and flight stick haptics.
Getting a victory in Fortnite Battle Royale is more more challenging after the recent change.
actually there's NO reason not to preorder on a place like Amazon, you pay NOTHING down, you only get charged when they are shipped. plenty of time you can change your mind and cancel if you really don't want it.
Yea I preordered both for $25 each ($50) total at best buy, worst case I lose $25. Plus I know I'm getting the console I like day one, and a lucky customer gets the one I don't. Plus they told me at best buy I can cancel one of the preorders and get my money back if I do it soon enough, so not sure there is a negative.
I'm holding off on pre ordering until after release....I'll eventually get both but am still undecided as to which one i'll get first and when....

Pre-ordering also helps avoid people standing in the rain for hours on launch day and then violence will break out. Remember the story of the guy who got shot for his ps3? I bet he wishes he had pre-ordered
