Over the past few days we invited media to play our The Last of Us multiplayer mode called Factions. Most of these impressions are available online now but you’ll be seeing more as our review embargo on the game ends very soon. The multiplayer is an extension of the themes you’ll find in the single player game. The moment-to-moment survival present in the single-player campaign is integral to the multiplayer. You’ll feel tension and need to be intensely alert at all times. We want to show you a glimpse of what the gameplay looks like.

I disagreed and have preordered TLOU (and actually bought Ascension mostly for the demo).

When they said "the best multiplayer ever conceived", I really expected something different than an Uncharted mod or another Counter Strike-esque MP designed.

Okay, it will be slow paced, you won't have tons of bullets, BUT, as previews are saying, the differences between TLOU MP and the other thousands of shooters around stop right there.

So many nice things could have been done and now it is clear why they didn't show the average MP before. Because it is not on par with their usual job.

Disagree, disbubble, I don't mind.

In a few weeks, when you get back to reality, you'll be posting the same crystal clear stuff.

It is a shame that the game will probably lose lots of points on reviews due to the apparent complete lack of creativity and innovation on MP.

its MP what exactly are you expecting?the whole survival theme is absolutely amiazingly intergrated from the sp..for once it feels like like it should be ther unlike uc3(mind you i love it) which is thee for the sake of it..drake blowing up sully's face with n rpg really doesnt make any more sense than fun....

Actually upon looking for my source they have since changed the wording to say between matches the infected can attack. So I don't think there will be infected. Shame. They could easily implement it in the same way they did sandstorms and such in uc3. Maybe they will add this after release, I'm sure there will be enough demand from the community.

You need to re-watch the trailer man/woman. 2 shot shotgun kills. 3 shot (2 body, 1 head) kill. Melee kills were ridiculous. Just b/c you see someone shooting, doesn't mean they're hitting anything.

If you watch the video the shotgun up close is one shot and they are down, sniper is also one shot down and pistol looks like 4 to 5 shots. Anything else you need help with buddy??

There's a lot more shooting in this multiplayer than I sure expected. The "scarce ammo" concept really didn't apply. At least in thos trailer. Still looks baddass and I can't wait any longer to get my hands on this.

I'm not surprised by the hype in here as ND get hype regardless, it looks like a normal TDM multiplayer and nothing special, hope they have more than this. Don't care much i'll be day 1'ing it for the single player, but the Multi has been getting hype and this looks like nothing special.

Being slow paced doesn't change much, needing to find supplies is nothing much either, it's only a marginal difference from needing to find weapons. The only medium difference is taking care of ammo and even that goes out the window because you can pick it up off enemies.

They've integrated the survival horror flavor of single player to MP. That's very dynamic and interesting.. Instead of cookie cutter MP matches you will have to focus on survival as well as killing your enemies.. Scrounging for supplies and the crafting of weapons is awesome!

so you want nothing new, you want something like Uncharted, Gears of War, and CoD zombies.

if you watch you dont see people running and gunning spraying 100 bullets in 5 seconds. This game is scarce ammo, waves of infected wont work when your limited in supplies FOOL

No one said they have to be like COD zombies that they instantly know where you are. They can come in from random locations while you scavenge for stuff it could be Coop/Competitive two teams of two. Trying to Gather the most firefly pendents, and you can only get them from infected. You can fight each other if you want but it doesn't gain you points. You have melee weapons/shivs/bricks/etc to use as weapons.

I agree with you. It would be VERY interesting to have a big map to scavange and build your arsenal from and have some random infected tearing you a new arsehole unless you know how to stealth and hide.

Do you guys remember how you were playing hide and seek as a kid and always when the seeker was close you almost peed your pants out of excitement and suspense?

That's what I want from a game. That's why I love Dead Space. It had it's moments with the regenerating thing that kept coming for you. That's why I love Siren Blood Curse. I want to be terrified like that. I don't want to always be this overpowered killing machine.

Please make this work ND. I buy the game for keeps at launch but I would love for a new kind of MP experience.

I'm happy there is no hord mode since it's getting old. Having hord mode would be the easy way, instead they try something different even though it seems ver deathmatch like right now.

That'd be great! I really like what I'm seeing in the multiplayer (careful slow paced combat is nice and a nice change!), but I'm more of a coop guy than a competitive one. I'm getting this for the single player anyway, but a rich coop option would get me hooked in the multiplayer as well for a long time.

Other than the crafting, that pretty much sums up the uncharted co-op horde mode. Its a HORDE of human enemies with multiple different abilities.

And how do you even think to mix stealth strategy with a HORDE of infected. Horde defined as a CROWD. How are you gonna stealth kill a horde/crowd of infected??

Now if there was a seperate co-op story where you just go from city to city and do this with only the infected infested in all the cities, then i think you have something there.

Eh again it looks great and all but still disappointed in what they've shown. It looks like a better version of Uncharted. Lady's and Gents this is the reason why you do not hype yourself up to much so that you don't get disappointed like I did.

I'll still have a blast don't get me wrong, I just wanted a more survival heavy multiplayer with more stealth and possibly a horde mode with clickers.

The thing I'm glad about the most is all those gimmicks like weapon mods, upgradable boosters, paid boosters etc won't be in this multiplayer

I hope they do an Uncharted 2 with Uncharted 4 but I doubt it. I think more people play the classic mode in Uncharted 3 then the normal one

A bit disappointing. A total of 2 game modes (re-spawns on/off) and 7 maps. I'm also not huge on the "wall hack" feature many games implement now days. Maybe we'll see more modes added through the season pass DLC.

It doesn't look like some industry changing breakthrough or anything but I'm really happy to see how slow and methodical it looks. I have been scared off of multiplayer by the fact that it just seems like insane bullet spraying and I usually survive about two seconds before being sprayed with bullets from somebody I don't even see. This looks like thinking and planning will actually be useful and not just a way to get your back shot up by somebody with quick reactions running around the map.

First, the whole game is more about the human interaction than it is about your encounters with the infected. The developers have said this. And having the multiplayer focus on surviving hordes of infected, would make it into even more of a TPS. It's all about the right balance, and keeping the tone and feel of the campaign.

Second, I've never seen a multiplayer experience that has this feel of brutal survival. The focus lies more heavily on melee combat and stealth/scavenging aspects of gameplay, and the ammo count is all the proof you need of this. It looks like you'll run out, and fast. So that's why I don't think it's just like your typical TPS.

I like how the multiplayer system keeps the dynamic conversation aspect of the campaign, where what your allies or enemies say adds to the realism of the situation/skirmish.

I don't believe what that trailer showed is even close to the full experience and what it offers. From the hints in the trailer alone, I'm expecting:

- Rescue missions
- Looking after your clan members who are hungry, injured or infected
- Scavenging items and food for your clan.
- Periodic swarms of infected in the environment which puts your clan at risk.

- Marauder Attack: are those machete-wielding marauders in gas masks for a reason? It looks like your clan members will get sick if they enter certain areas of the gameplay space, unless they also have a gas mask.
- Hostages taken: Either the player becomes a hostage, or the clan takes on rescue missions. Possible co-op stealth missions?
- Disease outbreak: need to find or fight for supplies to heal your clan members, or watch them die?
- Friendly survivors found: no idea what this could be. I guess just meeting new players online, re-grouping, sharing resources and re-building numbers?
- Rescue allies: same as Hostages taken.
- Firefly attack: clan uprising as the Firefly group against the government restrictions?

Sweet OMG, to this add the periodically swarms of infected, also will love to wipe out clans that foolish use all their ammo shooting like COD and will be out of it at the later weeks lol.
Also the ammo is not the only concern yo also have to scavenger for supplies, as it shows the members that are hungry and also have to worry about diseases as well so medicines come handy, really cool

There you go: It's not just as simple as shooting people in the face so you don't succumb to the worst fate possible, either. Above all else, securing and protecting supplies is imperative to the survival effort. These resources become yet more important as your group grows. While lodging a bullet between someone's eyes will help in your quest, so do assists, revives, crafting items and physically picking up supply drops, obviously. It expands further than this too: members of your posse can suffer from sickness or get mauled by a pack of infected between matches.
