Square Enix Trademarks Final Fantasy Agito XIII.. Again
In yet more news having to do with the Fabula Nova Crystallis series, Square Enix has up and trademarked Final Fantasy Agito XIII.. for the second time. Square Enix originally trademarked the title in 2011, but what ended up coming of it was a PSP title called Final Fantasy Type-0 that never made it to North America. Despite the name change, Final Fantasy Type-0 featured lore and mythology from the Final Fantasy XIII universe.
In theory, Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII should wrap up the Fabula Nova Crystallis series, but given the inclusion of the roman numeral XIII after Final Fantasy Agito, it’s possible Square Enix could be looking to create an entirely new narrative set in the pre-existing universe. Of course, that’s just one of many options. Final Fantasy XIII-2′s core feature was time travel and saw a number of different locales bend and morph depending upon what time you were in, so the possibilities are very much limitless for the world.
