Although $3 is a bit much for a relatively simple action puzzle, Shiny The Firefly is really amusing and original. Flying around the levels, collecting your children and evading different dangers and obstacles is challenging and fun and the game has a great, comfy graphical style as well.

You control Shiny, the titular firefly in an effort to save its tiny firefly children that were scared by a less-than cataclysmic event. You fly around with the control stick or by tapping where you want to go on the touch screen, all the while avoiding obstacles and tackling enemies with enormous seeds. If that sounds like traits of a smartphone or tablet game, that's because it is; this is a Wii U port of a game for multiple touch-screen platforms. The addition of physical controls is nice, as we're sure many Wii U owners often prefer to use them over the touch screen so that they can use their HD TVs for the full visual experience."
Shiny the Firefly isn’t great. Let’s just get that out there now. It’s not great, and in fact, it can be rather boring, particularly for the first third of the game. Even so, it has a solid core concept, it looks excellent, the level designs are usually pretty good, and it has the potential to be something remarkable. Unfortunately, it fails to live up to its own potential and falls flat in many ways – though there is certainly much enjoyment to be gleaned from the experience.
