Holographic Skype Calls? Microsoft Aims to Make 3D Reality

What sounds like science fiction may soon be reality. An idea started off as a research project at Microsoft may soon become one of the computer giant’s newest telepresence technologies.
The technology would allow for a 3D realistic physical body double or “proxy” to be present at remote meetings. A new job listing posted on Microsoft’s web site asks for, “… a new software development engineer who will be tasked with helping Microsoft develop hardware and software capable of offering holographic meetings for remote workers.” Microsoft has said it is looing to expand the technology to Skype, which would allow its users to experience, "high-definition communication" in its voice and video calling software.
