They aren't, but I know alot of graphics hoes who buy a game purely on how it looks and not how it plays... so you could say games with graphics are easier to sell than games with great game play. (Cod being the exception :). Funny even though game play owns graphics

PureSophistry4434d ago

I like the term "Graphic Hoe"

Fishy Fingers4434d ago (Edited 4434d ago )

Click on a PS4 thread and see how many comments raise the gameplay over graphics. You'll struggle to find one.

Gameplay is hugely important to a games longevity, once it's in the publics hands, when it matters. I've clocked more time on super meat boy than BF3. But initially you usually generate hype and interest through screens/videos (graphics).

Everyone likes to argue the gameplay > graphics argument, although if you track most gaming conversion these days, it's graphics graphics graphics.

koehler834434d ago

Have you played many PS4 games?

Fishy Fingers4434d ago

Don't really understand what you getting at? Notice were I said gameplay takes charge once a game is IN THE PUBLICS HANDS.

koehler834434d ago

But there are no PS4 games in the hands of the public. So how is that a relevant argument?

That's like discussing space policy from the perspective of already having colonies on the moon.

He's saying most of the people talking about a game will be talking about the graphics, proving that graphics certainly is an important part of a game in the eyes of the gaming community, but that this is only prior to the game's release. Once it is released, it is up to the gameplay to prove whether or not those gamers will keep that game and make itself worth the $60+ we paid for it.

TLDR; he is saying graphics is important to gamers, but that gameplay is significantly more important since it is gameplay that determines the game's worth and quality.

Orionsangel4434d ago (Edited 4434d ago )

The most important element in a game is the game play, no one wants a game that has bad controls, but at the same time we don't want all games to look like stick man drawings. Graphics or Story would come next. Depending on your taste. I know players who are instantly turned off by a game with mediocre graphics. Regardless of anything else. In other words what's really best for a game does not always reflect what the public wants and so If the public wants another BF game with better graphics. Who are you to tell them any different? Yes, there are those games that don't have mind-blowing graphics and are beloved, but at the end of the day it's bigger and better graphics that drive this industry. If not we'd still be playing 8-bit games.

Graphics show me the industry is moving. Gameplay usually defines the game itself which is why you see the same regurgitated stuff with better graphics year after year.

Simplifying the term isn't helping either... Graphics aren't limited to shiny surfaces and bumpmaps. It defines the whole art style of the game as well.

I played the Ultimas on PC many years ago I believe 7 was the last one I played. Hopefully they bring it back - single player though, not online.

Battlefield 1, Hardline, BF4 Servers Are Being Taken Offline by Cheaters; EA Silent on Issue

Cheaters & hackers have been causing grief on Battlefield 1, Hardline & BF4 servers, with nonstop DDoS attacks among other things. Unfortunately, EA has remained silent about it.

-Foxtrot1175d ago

Course they are silent, they are hoping people flock to 2042

gamesftw2501174d ago

Maybe it was a inside job then haha.

jeromeface1173d ago

wouldnt be the first time, titanfall 1+2 anyone?

PapaBop1174d ago

Not even if they paid me.. EA always do this with old games with less money potential, if this was Ultimate Team, they'd address and sort it faster than stories could spread. Why invest time in their products when they will just dump it in the following years? Then again EA never could see the forest for the trees.

Inverno1174d ago

I imagine after those games were given out for free a couple months back through Amazon, anything that makes people go to 2042 is a plus for them

XiNatsuDragnel1175d ago

They want people to go on 2042. My theory

excaliburps1174d ago

Nah. I think they can't do anything about it or they want to sink money into fixing it.

Pudge1028881174d ago (Edited 1174d ago )

EA owns all BF servers so yes, they can do something about it but they refuse to because they dont want ppl playing their old games instead of the new one. Its EA we’re talking about here

pr33k331174d ago

if this happened in 2042, they'd have something to say. which is weird, considering battlefield 1 has more players on steam right now.

Pudge1028881174d ago

Its so obvious that EA is doing this or hired ppl to mess up the games so that we’d be forced to have just 1 Battlefield working.

FPS_D3TH1174d ago

Honestly it’s probably the devs themselves. They did an update to bf4 way back that kinda made assault rifles doo doo in hopes that people would flock to BF1 cuz BF4 was too perfect

There's a bunch of great shooters on gamepass; both legacy and new.

A recommendation I have is a work in progress preview title called Anacrusis. It's a lot of fun, and has a cool aesthetic.
