I dunno...the walking dead...any myriad number of characters in any game that has customization options; Each and every sports game made, Gears of War, Mirror's Edge, Sleeping Dogs, Persona 4, Bioshock Infinite, etc. etc.

But I do agree with the premise. I played skyrim, Dragons Dogma and now Dark Souls as a female. And I believe that there are some amzing stories to be written using different races as lead characters but what we need are intelligent, well done games that can propel a character into the mainstream lessening the risk for others. Its all about money and companies are too scared to take a chance that it may not sell. Also, many are afraid that any actions or words may be attacked for being cliche or possibly racist. Critics are relentless today. Sites must get hits!!!I also don't want to see it done just for the sake of doing it, hence the quality issue. It will happen and the industry will be much better for it. But like everything, it must happen naturally or what's the point? I have actually written a couple of short stories that could be great narratives for leads. Anyway, it is an issue but I have faith it will be rectified.
