Money grubbing punks without a clue?

ChickeyCantor4441d ago

Don't like to say it, but it's not entirely Capcoms fault. Business has simply shifted to a more profitable case of micro transaction/dlc. They are simply following business trends and not adapting will probably leave them in the dust.

auragenz4440d ago

Where does this lead for gaming?

Games designed to prioritize one's abilty to maintain a healthy bank account over fun, creativeness, or just plain skillz it seems.

Chris Redfield is out of ammo - Would you like to purchase more?

Chris Redfield would like to end the nightmare - Would you like to purchase the Umbrella Underground Base to continue?

Chris Redfield is having a hard time staying alive - Would you like to purchase some really cool body armor, because we're not going to make this fun or rewarding and hide it in any kind of really secret puzzle on you.

RockmanII74440d ago

@auragenz it will go as far as the common consumer allows it. If Capcom does charge per bullet, and people DO actually buy the bullets, you can bet your ass they'll do it in other games too. If no one buys it, then they won't bother with it.

Monster Hunter.
Ace Attorney.
Ghost Trick.
Asura's Wrath.
Dragon's Dogma.
Okami.

Capcom, the company, may be "bad," but the games they produce are still fantastic, and still number among the best of the generation.

PopRocks3594441d ago

I'm pretty sure not all of those were "developed" by Capcom.

Qrphe4441d ago

I'm surprised DMC4 ended up being an excellent complete game without any DLC.

HiddenMission4441d ago

@PopRocks359
Actually they all are and they are all amazing....

Reality is Capcoms not that bad...broke gamers just feel that they are entitled to get everything for free.

New age gamer: dlc free, expansions free, cut content free, new skins free, new weapons free, dedicated servers free yep everything free free free.

New age gamers dont like to pay...look at pc prices and whats happened...torrent sites for stolen games.

Gamers dont support devs and publishers by buying new and then expect to get dlc free too. Its a damn joke.

Why do you think every dev wants drm and console manufactures are looking for options to kill used...because devs are getting screwed by new age gamers...end of story!

Inception4441d ago

@XoF
Yeah, maybe those are some good games from capcom. But you forgot the mediocre to crap list:

Bionic Commando
Lost Planet 2
RE 5
RE 6
RE ORC
DmC

The only games that i liked from capcom on this gen are RE Revelation & SF IV.

vork774441d ago

Asura's Wrath all about QT

linkenski4441d ago

Alright let's list hose in the order they were made in.
Okami = Last gen.
Ace Attorney = I personally love it, but it feels like a 7/10 type of game.
Monster Hunter (3) = Not as popular in the west as in JPN.
Ghost Trick = Awesome, but overlooked.
Asura's Wrath = The ending and DLC :/
Dragon's Dogma = Too big with too little.

Yup i love some of these games, but with the latter titles it shows how greedy Capcom have become.

humbleopinion4440d ago

You forgot Dead Rising which was also one of the best zombie games around - before it became a trend. Probably capcom's best IP this gen (Dragon's Dogma coming second, and Lost Planet and Void trailing far behind).
RE5 and the DMC reboot were also pretty good. Not
the best in the series but far from the worst.

Maddens Raiders4441d ago

take my money and give me loads of new characters for umvc3. There's no fkn excuse any more as if there was one in the first place.

RockmanII74440d ago

But if they work on UMvC3, how are they gonna make Super Street Fighter 4: Arcade Edition 2013?

xflo3604441d ago

Dear Capcom, If you want more sales and old fans to come back then do the following...

Release a Resi evil that goes back to its roots, Revelations is close but it still needs a bit more horror.

Release a Dragons Dogma with 2 - 8 player online co-op.

Release a 2d Street Fighter on next gen with pin sharp characters and seemless animation, 100+ characters and more modes.

Release a Onimusha/DMC crossover, this would be so good!!

miyamoto4440d ago

they have been corrupted by the west

not only was their games westernized but their ways of doing business got westernized too

they try to apply to their games what western publishers like EA and Activision do to theirs

instead of making good and improving on what made them great they adopted a completely foreign policy to their business but it didn't fit them and it backfired on them as western gamers did not find it fun

Capcom, what are you doing?
What are you doing, Capcom?
CAPCOM?
STAHP!!!

Max-Zorin4441d ago

It's a reason certain main people left the company.

Parasyte4441d ago

Soooo...Capcom are basically wanting to go out of business?

adorie4441d ago

Well? Let's help them out! Word of mouth can put our foot in the door.

mydyingparadiselost4441d ago

They're nowhere near the only company trying to use these kinds of DLC strategics. It seems any game that asks you to subscribe to a season pass of DLC is doing the same thing Capcom is talking about doing now. Whether it's for good games or bad games from good companies or bad it's the same thing, so be upset with the industry as a whole and not just Capcom.

delboy4441d ago

I'm afraid of what the game industry will be in 5 years.

Capcom reveals its PC game [digital] sales overshadow console, and it's only growing

The earnings reports of Capcom's Fiscal year 2024 showcase the growth of PC over console, with 60% of game sales being made on the former.

Vits20d ago

What’s interesting is that, given how well their games sell, it’s very likely most of them fall into the 25/75 revenue split bracket. The larger ones, like Monster Hunter, are in the 20/80 bracket.

So even accounting for the vastly superior regional pricing on PC, I wouldn’t be surprised if revenue-wise from digital sales, both platforms are close, or if PC is ahead as well.

neutralgamer199220d ago (Edited 20d ago )

Yes PC is the biggest platform and it has definitely improved as a home console of sort plug and play. It's the only platform with actual freedom for gamers with modding. I was a console gamer for over 38 years and now I only play on Pc. Whether you are buying pre-built or building it yourself it's now easier than ever before to jump in

And my experience with pc gamers has been excellent, they are helpful with any questions on pc boards

FPS_D3TH19d ago

As a gamer who also loves replaying his old favorite titles, possibly with a few mods as well, I can’t imagine ever getting another console.

Profchaos20d ago (Edited 20d ago )

They spoke about resident evil and monster hunter I would actually find the monster hunter breakdown more interesting tbh as I've always felt like this game would be at home on PC

but for resident evil it's always felt like a PlayStation mainstay despite having exclusivity elsewhere likely because it was where I first played it. The game feels like it's begging to be played lights off in the loungeroom late at night or also in VR I've never been as scared as I was playing re7 in VR

dveio20d ago (Edited 20d ago )

Is this really suprising? Looking at the evolution of the Switch, X|S and Playstation 5?

Eonjay19d ago

The biggest cause is probably the lack of game purchases on the Xbox platform. Also keep in mind this is only digital sales so there is a chunk of sales not being shown here.
