Full House, Star Trek: TNG, Pawn Stars, Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers, just off the top of my head… these are the kind of mindless, predictable storylines I’ll ‘watch’ in the background while I’m doing something else, or if I’m so doped up after a surgery that I’ll think I’m watching TV shows within TV shows, because they all just run together. Tropes make great reference fodder in conversations, for any Socially Awkward Penguins reading this. So it’s not like they don’t have their place.

But for the love of fuck, everyone knows you’re not supposed to have a diet of ALL circus peanuts. Yet, that’s what Joss Whedon is famous for—spoon-feeding the already lazy, bloated American entertainment machine with hot ass-kicking babes, recyclable themes of love and friendship and sacrifice, and bottomless witty quips. I find it humorous and telling how tvtropes.org defines the term “Jossed” one of two ways: when a loved main character gets heartwrenchingly killed off just for LOLs, or when elaborate fan theories and fiction get crushed with more trope or canon."
