Nintendo Direct Coverage and Why They Should Drop Out of Home Consoles, Focus Soley on Portable
VG Republic Writes: Today proved yet again that the portable market is absolutely a monopoly when it comes to gaming on a traditional style console. There will always be those that choose to play games and such on their cellular devices, but those looking for a “gaming” experience the choice with regularity will be on a portable gaming machine. Nintendo held another Nintendo Direct conference today and flexed its muscle yet again on their transportable system announcing more games being released that were new to the public and showed off more of what we found out about at the last conference. There is a slew of new games to wet your whistle for the Nintendo 3DS on the horizon and we have yet to even hit E3, which is sure to bring more exciting news. The same can not be said, however, for its home console brethren that is supposed to be the first next-generation console to grace the market. Unfortunately the games have been few and far between other than ports that are supposed to show gamers that Nintendo is still interested in the home console business, but in essence they aren’t. Instead of showing support for each, especially from a first-party perspective, Nintendo has pledged heavily on the 3DS as that is what the fans of the company seem to embrace better; it’s a very logical move. It does though lend creditability to the fact that Nintendo needs to bow out, cut its losses, and run with what is working which is clearly the Nintendo 3DS.
