Xbox 360 patches are not permanent

Xbox 360 patches are not permanent

Putting this small bit of info to make consumers aware of this issue that really needs to be fixed. All Xbox 360 owners should read this.

Xbox 360s, regardless of model or Hard drive size, will only hold a maximum of around 35mb of patches at any one time.

Notice how when you put an older game in that you updated years ago and oh look it needs an update again?

this is why, the patches are held in a temporary cache not permanently on the hard drive, ( some newer games like Black Ops have bigger permanent patches, which can physically be seen under the save data for the game in question on the memory screen )

Now why is this a problem you ask?

Well DLC needs patches to run in most cases, so the xbox 360 can hold around 10-15 games worth of patches before it starts overwriting itself.

When the xbox 360 servers inevitably shut down. any games that you have bought DLC for, and that aren't patched at the time they shut down, guess what? the DLC won't work.= for offline play.
