StickSkills Radio Episode 27 - Gears of War: Judgment & PAX East

Another light show this week. Chris was off exploring PAX, in the meantime myself, Perry and Todd discuss some of the big announcements coming out of the show. Including Transistor from SuperGiant Games, DuckTales getting a remake and a whole load of Borderlands 2 stuff.

In what we've been playing, it's a light week as I briefly talk a bit more about my time with Tomb Raider before we move onto last week's big release, Gears of War: Judgment. Todd and Perry share their thoughts on People Can Fly's take on the Gears franchise.

Then we round things out with a drivetime PAX discussion with Josiah and Sam. Apologies for the less than stellar audio quality we like to think it puts you right there in the car with them.

Gears of War: Judgment - 10 Years of Gears' Most Misunderstood Release

Gears of War: Judgment launched 10 years ago today, and quickly became one of the most misunderstood titles in the series.

Easily the best control-wise of the series. Judgment introduced melee-ing with the lancer and is still the only installment of the series (to date) which enables you to change weapons while roadie running simultaneously.

Gears 2&5 are the worst controlling in the series.

It killed the series for me tbh.

The Arcady aspects of the campaign should have been unlocked after completing a campaign play through. Seeing score screen after battles caused awkward pacing. The multiplayer was too different from other Gears games.

Judgment felt more like an expansion than an actually game. To me, I was fatigued from the series at that point. The story was ok, over all it wasn’t bad.
