The Showdown Effect is a 2.5D platform, multiplayer fighting game that pits you against up to 8 people at a time playing as 80s inspired action movie star cliché characters. There are 6 characters (plus bonus characters for pre-ordering), 4 different maps to play on and 4 different game modes, some free for all and some team based games.
The artwork is a lovely, cartoony art style, colorful and illuminated wonderfully. The maps are gorgeous, and provide for an esthetically pleasing experience. The environments are destructible and you’ll even have a Godzilla sighting on one of the maps once the Showdown mode activates at the end of each free-for-all.
