How Indie Games Can Move Us and Change the Industry

They might not have huge marketing budget or the fancy limos of big studios, but indie developers are able to push the boundaries of what games can do, forcing the industry to change with them. The Daily Reaction team of Seb and Dan discuss how, and get a little teary eyed in the process. - PSLS

I really hope we see a bigger indie movement next gen as there some interesting titles created over the last few years.

alexcosborn4175d ago

Agreed. I'm all for creativity.

burn1n9m4n4175d ago

Well it's not even a question of creativity. I think you need indie games as a means of exploring ideas that big publishers are too scared to take a financial risk on. There have been tons of ideas within the last two or three years in the indie scene that have gone on to be aped by bigger retail titles.

In fact, I'm surprised that the narrative style of Bastion hasn't shown up in more games since it came out.

Looks like they shut up and took everyone's money

doctorstrange4175d ago

Some really powerful indie games out there, truly the best place to look for something different.

TrendyGamers4175d ago

PlayStation Mobile will really pave the way for some unique games.

doctorstrange4175d ago

Hopefully. But they need to give developers a realistic reason to switch from iOS and Google Play, which are far larger markets.

dbjj120884175d ago

I agree with doctor strange. Unifying with those mobile platforms will make PlayStstion Mobile more attractive to indie devs.

BitbyDeath4175d ago

I hope so, current mobile games are just plain horrible. EA remade Theme Park and made it utter garbage that charges you at every turn.

Someone needs to turn those games around to show it's not just about repetitive instruction/endless fees

dbjj120884175d ago

I think the massive AAA games are just too big and limbering to really innovate. Indie games can move and react fluildly.

doctorstrange4175d ago

It's not about the prize at the end, it's about the journey to get there.
