This will be the big N's Halo. It will be amazing.

TruthbeTold4522d ago

If this is indeed what Retro Studios is working on, after seeing what Monolith Software is doing on the Wii U Graphics and Draw distance-wise, I can't wait to see what this game looks like. Prime 3 looked amazing, even on the Wii's comparatively limited hardware. It'll be no PC level look of course, but those guys know how to do the most with what they're given.

Theyellowflash304522d ago

I think it will actually look better than most PC games because of the Art style. Yeah PC can push way more polygons, but Retro's art team is one of the best in the business. Medal of Honor has some of the best graphics on a decked out PC, but I think Halo 4 looks better because of the art direction and animations. There are more to games 'looking' great than raw specs.

TruthbeTold4522d ago

I hear you on that. Art style is crucial.

A Retro made HD Metroid will be amazing.

In the article they have one interesting idea: have Samus have an internal monologue. Her thoughts would come out of the gamepad speakers. Imagine walking into that destroyed ship in Prime 3 and you hear Samus say quietly "They're dead. They're all dead." Or something better and less generic :). Wouldn't that be cool and add atmosphere? They would have to get a good writer or else it would be incredibly annoying, though.

Even if that wouldn't work for Metroid, that would be perfect for an Eternal Darkness sequel.

Metroid Prime was intended as a trilogy so I doubt there will be a 4th one.

TotalSynthesisX4522d ago (Edited 4522d ago )

So was Halo. And Mass Effect. And probably a half dozen other game franchises.

Your point?

Kevlar0094522d ago

Counterpoint: Halo

Reasoning: Halo made complete sense as a Trilogy, 343 has managed to make a new Trilogy to complete what Halo 4 started. Prime is known for being Metroid first person, and the mysterious ship at the end of Prime 3 indicates it's not over. Though the end of Phazon would mean no more Metroid Prime, it can easily expand.

At the very least there will be a spiritual sequel in the same Universe/canon (if that makes sense)

zerocrossing4521d ago

I have my doubts they'll be a 4th Metroid Prime anytime soon, I have a feeling Retro are working on Star Fox if not then it'll be something else Im sure will be awesome.

If ever there is a 4th instalment I expect it'll be a while before we see it.

CaptainN4521d ago (Edited 4521d ago )

Fine....Metroid Dread it is then :p

Or they can just make another name, Metroid Omega or something like that.

Metroid prime trilogy was awesome, From play mechanic to visual graphic & art style. But I'd rather Nintendo make the next metriod game play similar to other M.

I know I know other M sucks like hell as many of you would say. But I think the main reason why Other M failed was because of the lack of optical memory space on the wii's disc which was limited to 8gb; resulting to a more run gun action game rather than exploring corridors & find hidden items.

So, now that the Nintendo's Wii U has the memory optical space (25gb),taking the same approach(other M) again shouldn't be an issues.

DarkBlood4522d ago

metroid prime trilogy would like a word with you?

jacksheen00004522d ago

LOL

It just that I don't see metriod as a FPS. The 3rd person preservative game play view is good in all but I'd rather it be more like Other M in my opinion.

Other M was a great attempt by team Ninja; to make it as close possibly as they could to the 8bit 2d metroid. but I like said before, the wii's optical space wasn't enough to make it good. Time will only tell.

DarkBlood4522d ago

thats only in regards to your comment about exploring and finding items and how much gb the prime games took and it was fairly good amount to do in those games

it didnt seem to be a big of a focus in metriod other m

The Metroid Franchise has tremendous potential on the Wii U console. Definitely excited for a potential MP4. But personally I think the series might be headed for a reboot.

BTW, Take all of the features the author mentions in this article, apply them to a new version of Metroid Prime Trilogy, and I'll buy that as well.

Wouldn't the X-ray Scanner in Super Metroid be the original detective mode?

Metroid Prime Dev "Let Down" As Original Credits Excluded From Remaster

Currently, the original developers are credited via a generic slate.

It's safe to say that it's the original developers who conceptualised and built these games in such a way that they're worthy of a remaster or remake today. Even if they had nothing to do with the new iteration, the dev team behind a remaster would be nowhere without the original vision – and so, the original dev team deserves a place in the credits of a remaster. That's exactly how former Retro studios engineer Zoid Kirsch feels.

Based on the work of the original development team.

That's pretty low..

Double_O_Revan857d ago

Depending on how long the credits are for the current team, I can see why it would be decided not to essentially double that.

Welshy857d ago (Edited 857d ago )

How long or short credits are is irrelevant. Every man or woman who put their time into the creation of anything (tv, movies, animation etc too) should have their names stamped on it, no excuses.

Noone realistically sits and reads every name and actually thanks them, but it's important to the people involved to have it there for what small validation or thanks it brings them. A little thing they can show their friends and family for years to come and feel proud to have contributed to. Kind of like seeing your face for 1 frame in the crowd on TV at a football match and having your own little stamp to show you were there.

Welshy857d ago

Without those original devs, there is no beloved game to remaster and put new names on. Disappointing Nintendo, do the right thing and patch it in.
