20 Greatest First-Person Shooter Levels Of All Time

WC: First-person shooters have been a staple of the gaming industry since id Software first popularized it with the likes of Doom and Wolfenstein. Over the years, there have been some truly genre defining games such as the Halo and Call of Duty franchises.

The games themselves emerge you in the world of the character you control. seeing everything through their eyes. The weapons as well have helped the genre to become a staple, with the devastation of the shotgun at close range to the lethal sniper if you prefer to pick your targets off at a distance, and when your ammo is all gone, you can always rely on your trusty knife or go toe to toe with your enemies and beat them to a pulp with your bare fists.

Here we count down the 20 greatest first-person shooter levels of all-time from a whole variety of genres.

If you're gonna troll, at least make a legitimate attempt.

Hot damn that's a good list. The only one i never played is AOE2 and i never finshed Chrono Trigger but it was damn good.

Speaking of what's old but holds up amazingly well and plays like a dream.. i played Symphony of the Night for the first time in 2019.. yep that's right. It became one of my favourite games of all time that i replay almost every year. I couldn't believe how good it was. That is almost impossible for me with newer games let alone older ones. Truly a special gem.

LG_Fox_Brazil52d ago

That's a pretty fucking great list

The only one I’d disagree with is doom. It shows its age badly I think. After 5 minutes of play these days you put it down.

3D Dot Game heroes. Good luck

I have this. Never even realised it had become rare.

staticall120d ago

@Cacabunga
While i have a disc with the game, i was able to find it on a torrent ru tracker with at least 3 people seeding right now and it was downloaded 450+ times.

I wouldn't send a link (so i wouldn't get banned). But, i think, torrent or P2P are probably the last mostly reliable way to find old games no one cares about. I was able to find «Fable» there. Not the Lionhearts' Fable, but very old point-n-click adventure.

I still have my PS3 copy of Spec Ops, Battlefield Bad Company 1&2 & Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1/2.

Planning to replay those and a few others, but the controls feel so loose now compared to modern games.

Change the title to: Amazing Games That Have Been Abandoned by Stupid Publishers Who Don't Care About their Legacy, so You Should Pirate and Enjoy them.

Okay, maybe that title was a bit too long. 😅

NotoriousWhiz120d ago

Amazing abandoned games that you should ARRRR.

I missed out on the chance to buy BFBC1 on Xbox and I just want to kick myself silly. One of the best PS3 experience of my life. The feeling, impact, sound design of this game was leagues better than BF games that followed

Pour one out for Transformers Devastation

I lost my physical copy in a move, it still bothers me to this day 😅😔
