Destination PlayStation News: MGS PS3 Bundle, Kratos PSP and DualShock3 Release Date

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots PS3 Bundle
To coincide with the much-anticipated North American launch of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots in late Q2 2008, SCEA will introduce a PS3 bundle, which will include an 80GB PS3, the upcoming blockbuster Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, and a DUALSHOCK 3 wireless controller for $499.99 (MSRP).

The final piece of big news coming out of DPS is another much-requested release date: SCEA will introduce the DUALSHOCK 3 wireless controller for the first time in North America in April 2008 for $54.95 (MSRP). Compatible with more than 100 PS3 games, DUALSHOCK 3 has both rumble and motion-sending SIXAXIS technologies. So now you'll be able to play Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, and, yes, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots with rumble turned ON.

God of War PSP Entertainment Pack
In June, a new PSP Entertainment Pack will be hitting stores, featuring the famous face of the Ghost of Sparta - Kratos. Here's what you get in the bundle, which will be available for $199.99 (MSRP):

* Limited-Edition "Deep Red" PSP with Kratos silkscreened on the back
* God of War: Chains of Olympus
* Superbad on UMD video
* Voucher to download Syphon Filter: Combat Ops from PLAYSTATION Store for free

I think sony is going to create alot of momentum. They will release Home and in-game xmb and the DS3 controller around the time GT prologue comes out. GT comes out april 17th Then about a week later GTA4 comes out, If Sony relases Home and in-game xmb around the same time that should push alot of ps3s. I don't see why Sony wouldn't do this.

You can get Gt prologue, GtA4, and Home around the same time. Not to mention MGS4 will be right around the corner. so If your on the fence about buying a 360 or a ps3 for gta you would probably go with the ps3.

None of this is set to make a huge impact... We've known, or atleast I have, about these for many months now.

I already own 2 DS3 controllers... MGS 4 is going to be big, but it's not going tobe the blowout game for the PS3. Home won't hit until June 17th, folks. I keep telling you this. In game XMB is going to cause more problems than anything.

You people will be complaining about all that it doesn't offer you to do, opposed to what it does. IT also won't hit anytime near the stuff they're talking about.

PS3's major success lies with their new IP. Little Big Planet, Tears of Blood, Eight Days ... games like that.

MGS 4, Tekken 6, Killzone 2, Resistance 2 ... All great games.... but nothing we haven't played before. New IP and user generated content is what is going to drive the stake deep into the hearts of Sony's competition.

I agree the new IP's will have a big impact on new people to the PS Brand... but honestly, We all own a PS for Tekken, MGS, and games we have known to love. This game will be huge and so will the bundle.

I hope you are wrong with HOME dates, but I would not be suprised if June is the date even though March has been stated over and over.

MGS4 will be a classic and will get every dollar of the old schools and big back the ones who were lost on 2 and 3 plus the new kids are going to go ga ga over it when they see the graphics, story and gameplay.

As for the 1st comment... Home isn't coming out in March, man. It's just not. I'm in the beta... It's not ready. Talk to anyone else who's in it and is willing to "break" the code of conduct and talk about it, like me.

They'll tell you the same... It's not ready. It's very early. There isn't going to be a public beta and that's that. Sony smoke and mirrors... I'd be very suprised if there is a public beta.

Home will come out in June. Simple and clean.

I like Tekken 6, I love Resistance... I'm not a huge fan of MGS games, but they're a nice perk... I simply am not amped up about them games. not like some of the other stuff I know is coming.

New IP is where the future is at. GT5, GTA 4, MGS4, DMC 4, Tekken 6... See a trend there? Let's get over it.

i have to disagree with you on this one. I agree that potentially new IPs could be huge hardware movers, i think everyone is expecting that from Little Big Planet.

But honestly you are down playing importance of MGS4, Resistance 2, Tekken 6, GT5 and Killzone 2(if it delivers). I know people that have bought PS3 just to play MGS4. Sure it wont move like 10 million units but 100% fact is that at least 2-3 million people will buy PS3 or already has, to play MGS4.
Not to mention importance of GT5 in Europe and Japan. That is best selling Sony franchise, on average 12-15 million units sold of each GT game.

Mgs4 IS a game that weve never played before. resistance 2 is also a game weve never played before because the 60 players online makes it a different experiance. Killzone 2 will be hecka awesome like no other game because of its lighting effects.

i think their plan was to sell through all the MGS-less 80 gigs to create a sort of shortage if you will, then when the game is released not only will sale boom for the game itself but sales will aslo boom for the game due to the bundles. this in the end keeps konami financially happy, and if their happy there is no point in it going 360, i think it was a form of insurance on their part.

well if you actually thought about it, it makes a lot of sense for example the controller and game alone add up to over 100$ meaning if their giving it away completely free thats 100+ per system that they have to eat multiply that my a couple thousand and thats a lot of money. I'm surprised that MS didnt do that here in the state with halo instead of selling those dumb helmets, a bundle with have done them a lot better than the helmets. they went the extra mile of a halo themed console but it didnt include the game so it kinda defeated the purpose.

I doubt they'll drop the price for that. Otherwise the price difference would still be too big. Remember, this MGS4 bundle is meant to be a kind of value pack, you get more for a lesser price. If there was over a $100 difference then it sort dismisses the value aspect.
