Review: Persona 4 Golden (PS Vita) - Raising The Remake Bar | 2D-X

Persona 4 Golden for PS Vita raises the bar for re-releases and remakes so high it’s almost unfair.

Atlus could have slapped this 2008 JRPG on the Vita without new quests, characters, or online features and called it a day.

But this developer remade Persona 3 from the ground-up to fit on the PSP, so it knows its way around an update.

This update, full of passion, charm and intricate gameplay, also happens to stand above the rest of the Vita’s library as the best game available for the handheld thus far.

2D-X Excellence Award.

I really want to get this game. Question for the JRPG fans.....Would you recommend this to be my first JRPG? I'm not sure what the JRPG means really and how it differs from any other adventure game.

.
At least try them first.

Most RPGs are requiring explorations & time consuming, including; talking to PCs & NPCs, battle with enemies, managing your stats & team, while the story progressed form one point to the other.

If it's compared to any adventure game, just think that RPGs are the expansion of the story mode, and add more depth to it.

For this game has all that I already mentioned above, and the story is the main attraction.

Get Persona 3 Portable first from PSN ( it is pretty cheap! ) and if you like that type of game, then proceed to Persona 4: The Golden.

4 is my favorite Persona so I’m hyped for a remake. I’ve played Golden a few times and the original a couple times so I’m ready for the remake

P4 Golden literally justified the VITA at the time (incredibly slick on that OLED display as well... huge memories for me). P4 on PS2 was awesome (I played it on my BC ps3 at the time) but Golden elevated it, again- that screen and the intimate feel of playing it on a handheld made it feel way less dated.... I love that game. That and Ys memories of Celceta, Killzone and some of the other incredible games made the VITA intensely memorable even if mostly due to the name (same fate as the Wii U) nobody knew what it was initially and it went by the wayside (idiots blame the cards but literally nobody but a few loud people on forums cared about the cards, mostly because they were hoping to pirate, one small cheap card held tons of games- it was never a problem)

Damn straight it did, I bought it on a whim when I was in a Gamestop one day and saw it on sale. I played the shit outta that game. Another one was Zero escape: Virtues Last Reward. If it was just for those 2 games, the console was worth it.
