"Awkward faux nerd jokes, cheesy celebrity shtick, a distinct absence of awards during an award show, and not enough emphasis on games and the people who make them -- Spike’s Video Game Awards has earned itself a bad rap over the years for these offenses and many more."
it all happened because the games were chosen by vote. But who were the voters? The people and not a bunch of biased judges.
But I find ironic that an IGN editor is writing something like this when IGN always give GOTY to the most popular game of the year and not to the one that really deserves it. And most of their reviews are inflated by hype and the swag they get from the publishers too.

SPIKE outdid themselves this year...in a bad way...with the (obviously) paid moshpit of glow-band wearing, Bieber-loving [email protected] Not even SLJ could save the show, as everything he said came off as forced and awkward...even more than his usual over-the-top delivery.
I actually really enjoyed it. Alot of devs got some much deserved recognition. Especially Telltale(TWD was my Goty). I had pretty much given up hope on the VGAs when Megan Fox won best voice actress for that awful Transformers movie game a few years back. I was expecting Black Ops 2 to get Goty considering the past VGAs or even AC3 to because of all the recent hype. I think I even heard Madden got it one year? Lol. But pretty much every award given out, I thought was well deserved. Only disappointment was the reveals. The Phantom Pain was cool but I guess I just expected more.
I Was really happy that this year they were not biased at all.
There are lot of games that weren't even nominated and some games TO ME that didn't deserve the win still got it. I haven't played the Walking Dead game yet but my friend says it's good but it's not a game worth GOTY. I'll get it this Christmas and see if it really lives up to its GOTY.
