Five Things I Want to See in 2013

Don Parsons from Vagary.tv gives some details on his hopes and dreams for 2013.

I actually agree with numbers 2 and 3.

#3: However, Need for Speed Underground 3 need to be handled delicately, it's one of my favorite PS2-era games. Criterion did a great job with Most Wanted but let's be honest, it was NOTHING like the original. Doesn't even feel close to me. I personally feel like if they were to remake Underground (which is probably gonna happen :/ ), they would change that classic formula so much. I don't want six mods. I want crazy vinyls, neon purple and cyan underglow, 21" spinners on my VW Golf, etc. Except I wouldn't actually do that. They need to take it seriously, just not TOO seriously. Cause that's what was so great about the classic NFS games, the ability to do whatever you want, when you want to, while still having that feeling of progression by unlocking and then customizing your favorite cars.

If Criterion's just gonna take the name, crap in a bucket, and call it "our version of Underground" then I'm done.
And again, I really like Criterion, just saying I hold Underground close to my heart.

#2: Yes, the Vita's future next year looks a little weak. But no major console has ever only had 5 - 10 games released for it in a year. If you remember a couple months back Sony said something about lots of exciting titles being in development, they're just not announced yet.

As for Gran Turismo Vita: yes, they need to release that soon, but they should take their time. (not GT PSP time, just regular GT time). We know Polyphony will polish the hell out of it so let's hope it's secretly been in development for the past two years and it'll be out in one. If it hasn't, then we might be waiting a little while.

Also, yes we need GTA for Vita. But Chinatown wars, really? The PSP can run Vice City Stories and you say the Vita need CHINATOWN WARS 2?! No, just no. A full fledged GTA game on Vita or nothing. We all know it will happen at some point whether it's what Rockstar's working on right now or not. But for Christ' sake; no one wants a Chinatown Wars 2 for something as powerful as the Vita. I expect it'll be a smaller game and the graphics may not be quite up to par with GTA V; but hey, when was GTA ever not fun? :)

I have a lot more to say, like what I'd like to see in 2013 and more about the Vita. But screw that, too much effort.

Oh, yes, I would be worried if Criterion touched Underground. I spoke with a rep at E3, and asked why there was a lack of customization and the answer was along the lines of "we feel that the "Fast and Furious" vibe has passed". Those aren't his exact words, but along those lines.

I LOVED GTA;CTW more than most GTA games. The last 3D GTA game I liked was San Andreas, but the last one I loved was Vice City. I can't stand GTA4, but am interested in GVA5. So yeah, my personal interest lies with Chinatown Wars 2. :)

Yeah, new dev needed for Underground lol.

Fair enough. I'll be honest, I never played CTW. I just find that top down games aren't usually my thing and the switch from 3D GTA to that looked like too much of a shock to my system haha.

I'd prefer GTA Los Santos Stories over a Chinatown Wars 2. Chinatown Wars just wasn't my thing.

I wish we got a bad company 3. BC2 still a great campaign, one of the best of the series

RaidenBlack96d ago

I wished for a BC3 as well.
Hope after this BF6 succeeds, the new BF campaign team can come up with a decent sequel story (but it'd be Russians invading US soil, tho, based on the cliffhanger. So, I am up for a BC0 prequel as well.).

I miss the Bad Company games so much. What was EA thinking by not allowing a third game? Just EA being EA I suppose.

Would love a remaster/remake of the first 2 then a new sequel. But EA…

XCOM: Enemy Unknown - A Welcome Rebirth

XCOM: Enemy Unknown rebooted the series back in 2012, and has since inspired numerous new strategy game series to be born.

If someone gets into this I'd recommend getting the enemy within version. It's got all the dlc included so it's the better version. Wish the author would've atleast mentioned it. I didn't see it.

Fantastic game though. Xcom 2 is top notch also. I've spent countless hours in these games.

Excellent game.
Played to death on PS3 years ago.

What other games were inspired by this game?

JL2930594d ago

Gears Of War Tactics, Phoenix Point. Many others.

shinoff2183594d ago

Phoenix point if I remember was created by the original xcom developer or something to that affect. I did try gears tactics some months ago and I just couldn't get into it. It's probably just me

It was, but it was really closer to the newer XCOM than the older ones. Gears Tactics was okay but was hard to get into knowing there probably wont be a sequel.
