For most fans of the franchise DOOM 3 was met with criticism for its cheap scares, lack of charisma and stylistic follow a path different from the previous titles. Doom 3 has not aged well in the eyes of most fans. However, DOOM 3 remains as a solid horror shooter with a spooky atmosphere, and BFG Edition underlines this, not only as a celebration of a game that has earned a reputation unjust, but as a collection worthy of the license which introduced the world one of the best FPS of all time.

Maybe it's a bit of a surprise to Bethesda and id Software choose to market this version as Doom 3, since the inclusion of the two original titles makes it much more like a collection DOOM and, in my opinion, would have made the game much more marketable. However, this compilation of titles and additional content longer works properly celebrating three classic shooters and provided they are not a PC gamer is that it really is.
