BT writes: As anyone who reads the majority of my writings can attest, I have a strong love for the music in video games. In fact about half of the songs I listen to when I just decide to play music are video game tunes I like. Among these songs, one type that I’ve always been fond of is the well-done character theme. Character themes have the added difficulty of fitting the character they were written for in addition to just being a good song in their own right. So when I find a good one, the effort needed to make it work makes me appreciate the song that much more. In that spirit, I’m listing my favorite character themes from gaming here. The only condition is one theme per series, so let’s get started.

Gary Green said: We Europeans got royally screwed with the releases of the first six Final Fantasy games. I’m sure you’d find plenty of dodgy imports or bootlegs if you looked hard enough, but we never actually got a proper release for any of them, at least not for the first editions. There was a lot of xenophobia in gaming at the time, so anything Japanese getting released in the west at all was nothing short of a miracle. It was an ugly trend that continued well into the 2000s when worldwide releases became the new norm.

This arguably is my best game of all time out of the 40yrs I’ve been playing videogames
