I need to try it. I used to enjoy flight games like the Wing Commander series and the other Origin games as well as Red Baron Online on the Sierra Network but have not played many in recent years. Of course the X-Wing games as well.

Played the hell of out LucasArts Battle of Britain when I was a teen. Wing Commander too. Loved those dogfighting games.

I used to get all of the Origin ones. Strike Commander, the one set in WW2 and the WW1 game.

IL2: Cliffs of Dover - A Diamond in the Rough

PC PowerPlay investigates how a band of merry modders turned a mothballed IL2: Cliffs of Dover into the Queen of the Skies.

"The release of IL2: Cliffs of Dover (IL2: CloD) in 2011 spelt the end of an era for flight simulator development. The last big-budget simulator from a major publisher to ever be released, this sequel to the wildly popular IL2 franchise was rushed to market in an entirely unfinished state. What had promised to be the definitive Battle of Britain experience ended up being one of the most disappointing and broken releases PC pilots had ever seen. Abandoned by its developers after a year of patches introduced more problems than they solved, it was soon adopted by a group of hobbyist developers known as Team Fusion. Over the course of the last few years these talented coders have turned this utter failure of a release into the finest WWII combat flight simulator of all time. Here’s how."

IL-2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover Review (IGN)

Gord Goble writes:Way back in 1998, David Kaemmer (iRacing) and his Papyrus Design Group, already celebrated for concocting ground-breaking auto racing simulations such as 1989's Indianapolis 500: The Simulation and the first few installments of the best-selling NASCAR Racing franchise, hit the race sim world squarely over the noggin with the debut of its historical F1 title Grand Prix Legends. To say GPL was misunderstood, questioned, and overtly slagged upon its release is an emphatic understatement.

This is one of the worst games I have ever played, poor graphics, poor sound, poor presentation..... poor everything really.

But don't mention that on the 1C forum or you will be banned, its full of die hards who only go on about how good the game will be 2 years from now.

Personally, I like my games complete (or at least working!) when I buy them.
