Man this guy talks some crap lol, looks like he is stoned or sniffed up.
bet he has a wii U pre ordered aswell

LX-General-Kaos4549d ago (Edited 4549d ago )

It is unfortunate that he thinks of it that way. I guess the great gaming crusade will have to carry on without him. Maybe an exclusive gaming experience will come along down the line to make him think otherwise.

LOGICWINS4549d ago (Edited 4549d ago )

I don't think the Wii U will be "trash", but I can't blame someone for having that perception. I saw my first Wii U commercial the other day, and its being marketed like a Fisher Price toy. The kids playing it in the commercial were like 10. It also had that generic music you'd hear from lasertag commercials in the 90s.

EDIT:

http://www.youtube.com/watc...

This is the one I'm talking about. I understand that Nintendo has a younger audience that MUST be taken into account, but if your selling a $300-350 console, your first marketing priority should be adult gamers that HAVE money.

Parents won't understand why they need to get their tween a $300 gaming console so he/she can replay Mario for the 7th time.

Also, why does Nintendo think that modern American families only have ONE household television?

Hellsvacancy4548d ago

That is a rather unappealing advertisement, from the perspective of an adult gamer

Nintendo know there market, and that market will be pestering there parents for it at Christmas

jmc88884548d ago (Edited 4548d ago )

No there is always a reason to blame ignorance.

It takes a really idiot to not look at the amount of 3rd party support (and people like Ubi had multiple devs working on Wii U games...Ubi Quebec, Ubi Paris, etc). Activiision, Bioware, EA, WB, Gearbox, etc, etc, etc.

One has to be a moron not to think it won't have hardcore games if they can't read a launch window and see...zombies, call of duty, aliens, mass effect, etc.

This guy didn't learn about the system from the commercial, so whatever the commercial was didn't give him that viewpoint. He already had it preordered which confirms it. But c'mon a guy in the industry had a bias, no commercial will sway that.

Parents will know, because they had NES. Nintendo has been selling systems for what about 27 years now? So every 45 and under was exposed to a NES as a kid. Which are the people buying systems for their kids. Why do people think parent won't know? It's one of the main reasons the Wii did good, because it captured lightning in the bottle at a time when their original market was having kids or had them. Same goes now, probably even more so. Parents will know. Hell many grandparents will know because they bought the now parents the NES/SNES for their kids.

I think the screen switching is mostly that people attach their console to the BEST tv, usually the biggest. Thus the off TV gameplay is geared at the ability to not hog up the 40-70 inch screen most people have these days. Sure many will have a 26-32 inch, but if you have both, or even a 40 and a 55 inch, which one are you going to hook up the system to? So people always want their stuff on the best tv. For television or for gaming. Conflicts erupt, this helps alleviate that.

Especially poorer people, which there are a ton and the number is growing every day, and won't stop until Glass-Steagall is passed and many other things. (not happening with Obama...and woudln't of happened under Romney). So at least four more years of economic collapse.

Mounce4548d ago

Referencing Wii U as a 'Great Gaming Crusade' or something?.... Lol, LX-General, yous funneh.

Clearly Craig will just totally dunk out and vanish from the radar and miss out this supposed Crusades' cock that you're ontop of XD

@ LOGICWINS

I do admit that the commercials could have been a lot better, but this is studdering Craig. He has likely seen things way beyond any commercial, and what he had seen up till now just isn't his style.

Even with those commercials, I don't think Nintendo will have a hard time selling the platform. Word will quickly get around that Mario is not the only game available.

LOGICWINS4549d ago (Edited 4549d ago )

Initially, it will do well. That's a given. Long term is the issue. It could just be me, but the only launch exclusive I see thats worth buying is ZombieU. Hopefully, I'm wrong, but I don't see the Wii U doing very well going into 2013. It seems to be resting its laurels on the fact that you'll eventually get your Zeldas, Metroids...but you'll also be able to play high profile multiplatform titles. I personally don't see that as being enough IMO.

LX-General-Kaos4549d ago (Edited 4549d ago )

Yea who knows what will happen going into 2013, but as for multiplatform titles there are a few 3rd party exclusives in the mix as well. Rayman Legends, Wonderful 101, ZombiU, and Bayonetta 2 come to mind as of right now. I am sure there are many other 3rd party exclusives down the pipeline. With that said I don't believe it's fair to say that Nintendo is "resting its laurels". The platform has not even released yet and there is already a numerous amount of exclusive content ready for the launch window. Nintendo and non Nintendo.

DivineAssault 4548d ago

I agree with u but knowing that games like Zelda & Metroid will eventually come is more than enough reason for ppl to spend the $300+ for a console.. I just dont see anything im interested in yet n $60 for the titles it does have coming is way too much to me.. Ports n shovel ware w full price tags.. Theres a couple new good games but nothing i see thats system worthy

chadboban4549d ago

Well that is his opinion and he's entitled to it, I'm not gonna personally attack the man for having an opinion. Not everyone's gonna love the Wii U. Same way not everyone is gonna love the PS3,360 or whatever Microsoft and Sony's next consoles are going to be. But hey I'm still getting a Wii U, same way I'm gonna get a PS4. And hey if Microsoft shows off some great exclusives, maybe I'll get a 720.

The point is even though I plan to get a Wii U, I don't expect everyone to like the console nor will I try to make them like it. Just enjoy what you play folks.

I am not surprised imo because it felt like that for awhile.

S2Killinit6d ago

Truth is that it was always sort of a lie. You were getting a couple of “day one” per year but they had trained people to think they were going to get all games day one.

GhostScholar6d ago

That is just false. It was never even eluded to that any games other than first party would be day one. Also it’s only April and we’ve already got more than “a couple” day one games.

TheEroica6d ago

What a misinformed comment... As bad a take as I've read in a while.

InUrFoxHole6d ago

Cmon guy. You really believed all games were coming day one when they've always said 1st party only?

S2Killinit6d ago (Edited 6d ago )

They did it really carefully, i didnt say they ever said “all games are day one” but they created an impression like that was the case. For instance nowhere did people actually see a list of day one games in articles or from MS’s mouth, but they kept saying “all first party” as if the number of day one games was something amazing. Truth is that they were getting a couple of games per year max on average. (Not sure what its like now)

@GhostScholar
Again, not sure what you got this year. But honestly is it even remotely worth it? Also, they get “day ones” on PSPlus as well, just not first party, and they are not paying $20/month for it.

FinalFantasyFanatic6d ago

It's not like they could do any differently, it takes a lot of money to keep the Gamepass monster fed, to put the majority of games on there day one is just going to drain too much money. They may have considered it at one point to try and kill off Playstation/Nintendo, but it's not a viable long-term strategy.

Former Nintendo PR Explains Why Switch Games Rarely Go on Sale: 'This Isn't Ubisoft'

Former Nintendo PR manager says that the reason their games rarely go on sale is because they value their games and aren't like Ubisoft.

Just throwing shade at Ubisoft like that.

"Nintendo’s audience will buy the game if it wants to, regardless of sales."

Sales? What sales? People buy Nintendo games at full price because they don't go on sale.

SlothLordPootus15d ago

That and the fact that their 3rd party support has been near nonexistent, so if you own the system you have basically no choice in what to buy. Especially with the switch it was nintendo first party or indies.

Obelisk9215d ago

Each company just wants to make the most profit, and Nintendo is such a strong brand that can afford to sell games at full prices withouth sales.
Weaker brands need to go on sale in order to continue selling some units.
That's just how it goes.

Christopher15d ago

Why I don't play Switch games and won't be buying a Switch 2. I tried, but it's just not for me or my wallet.

Dudebro14d ago

Nintendo is a game company only.althought I don't like it you can't see where they're coming from.nintendo doesn't have a diverse portfolio.

theres a reason why hes a "former" employee.

woth that kinda mindset, i would have fired him too ha.

__SteakDeck__15d ago

What are you talking about? He wasn’t fired. Nintendo wanted to move his show to Seattle and he didn’t want to leave California.

franwex15d ago

Keeping it real? I would’ve promoted him.

lukasmain16d ago

They value their games? Meaning others who have sales don't? How fking rude of this dude. Nintendo are really arrogant

LucasRuinedChildhood15d ago (Edited 15d ago )

Hopefully they get humbled like with the 3DS launch but I doubt it. There's enough early adopters that are very enthusiastic.

VariantAEC14d ago

I don't doubt that Nintendo will be forced to swallow their pride again.

SoloGamer115d ago

because Nintendo is anti-consumer
