PlayStation All-Stars Originally 4vs4 Capture The Flag, Sidescrolling Adventure

PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale has been labelled a Super Smash Bros ripoff, since before the title was even revealed. This is because Battle Royale‘s concept is (at face value) virtually indistinguishable from Nintendo’s beloved brawler.

Some will be surprised to hear that All-Stars‘ initial ambitions strayed far from the alleged clone of Smash Bros that you see today.

While that wouldve been interesting, i can honestly say i wouldnt have been nearly as hyped for it if it wasnt a "clone" of SSB. I am a huge SSB player, i easily put about 1000 hours into Brawl alone. And my god am i enjoying the PSASBR beta. Im so glad they took the route they did, because they got one helluva game on their hands. Cant wait for November 20th!!!

They can add it as a mode of play later or something. i am currently nursing a stiff neck playing the PASBR beta. And that is only with six characters, two stages and one mode of play. I don't know what type of neck pains I will have when they add more characters, modes, unlocks and stages. Better stock up on Bengay.

Keep at it! It's a surprisingly deep game. The key is figuring out the characters movesets, and what move to use in what situation. Good luck :-)

Yea I'm playing the beta, still learning the moves, mechanics, and such. Yeah Kratos is definitely OP lol, besides that its great from the matches I've been playing

I don't know why people keep saying Kratos is OP. I just got a score of 14 with Sweet Tooth agaisn't 3 Kratos players.

Kratos does have a pretty long reach on him.
Think i need to start using the block button when playing though, maybe that is the problem, well that and not really knowing any moves.

I've got to give SuperBot a lot of credit for Battle Royale. The game is fun as hell and I'm not even familiar with the game and therefore I keep getting my behind handed to me. I can definitely see myself putting hours into this game. Can't wait till I actually start knowing what I'm doing lol.

Kratos does appear OP, but I want to see how he stacks compared to the other characters. As of right now Kratos' move-set seems to have to many convenient moves that are good for all situations(close range, mid range, in air) apart from long range.

Exactly. Kratos' reach is a bit too long which makes him a good close range and mid range character.

Kratos isn't overpowered when it comes to his move set. But it seems to be his AP bar more than anything!
I played with Kratos against 3 Radics. It was hectic! I couldn't barely touch them! It's so fun!

I can see how people feel he is OP as he is really easy to use in a way. However winning with him is a different story.

It's WAY more easy to boost the meter with Pappa Rappa, which overall means more kills and points FASTER. Pappa Rappa's level 2 is just as good as most of the level 3's.....

try to block more and use the hold block forward forward or back back to dash/evade. you can get behind others that way.

...not saying you suck in that area, it just seems a lot of people online don't use it.

yeah since this game doesn't have a health system ppl don't bother be defensive, which is a big mistakes

block, grab and roll is a high priority in this game

sn/ i use to be scare of kratos, but not so much now-_-. i make it my mission to this discourage ppl playing as kratos or radec by trolling the with fat princess ^_^ its pretty fun

Its not that he's over powered, its that he has the fastest level up. It takes me up until the clock reads about 1:20 before I can actually reach level 3 with sweet tooth, as for kratos I seen a player reach level 3 within 80 seconds... Thats faster than any one else besides the spamming @ss Radec's

Yup, that's definitely his main problem. Doesn't hurt that he's incredibly strong, fast and his supers dominate, and take priority over most if not all other level 1 supers. Level 3 super lasts very long, and features a tracking projectile you can shoot to slaughter across the screen in moments. But if they nerfed his hasty AP build, then he'd be much better balanced.

I've seen instances, where I'm butchering Kratos in the beginning of a match (he gets a couple decent swipes in) and yet Kratos reaches level 1 10-20 seconds before I do. Doesn't make sense when Kratos is already so much quicker, and generally more powerful than Sweet Tooth.

I really don't get it either. I have been playing against Kratos with Fat Princess and still winning. I even beat two Kratos at once. I know he and Radec aren't always easy to fight but once you see that they have oppurtunities to strike you can beat them. Many people haven't even realized that Radec's sniper rifle can only reach a certain level in the air and if you attack him from above he can't shoot you with the laser sniper. Also he has to pause between each shot so you can get him at the pause.

it's cool if they think it's a rip-off but that shouldn't start matter as long as were having a blast with this game. to think a bad developer could make something good( that and Santa Monica Studios were right behind them along the way)

just got done playing this with my bro.this game is great with friends but outside of being able to team up with buddies and cross-play,this game doesnt do anything new.and im not just comparing this to supersmash bros.there was this Digimon game for ps1 that played exactly like this which is fine but i want to know wat other gamemodes if any will this game have.the game is pretty good as is but i cant see myself spending $60 on it.To be honest it has playstation store download written all over it.It better have Capture the flag and adventure mode if you expect me to pay 60 for it.i dont understand ,why would u scrap the more innovative ideas for the rehashed formula?They must know people r gonna buy the game regardless.Like i said the game is not bad but its not 60 dollars good either

Considering it comes with a DL voucher for the vita version, I think $60 is a steal for this game.
But I do agree with you, that it needs more modes to be a complete game. Wasn't there a leak of a ton of different modes? King of the Hill, 3v1, etc?

After What I Experience today in Playstation All Stars LA Beatdown event i can say this Game is Freaking Badass, love all the stage mashups and Coles power ups are sweet also big Daddy. This could end up being my game of the year.

Edit it might be similar to Smash bros, so what ? there was some nintendo fans at the event having a blast with the game, and it was the full game by the way.

That game actually honestly sounds better, although I like that Sony has made this game.

I don't own a Vita or PS3, but I'm sure if I grew up playing PS games that these characters would be my Mario & Link's and Luigi's.

judging from the trophy list leak of this game, looks like 4v4 CTF wont be in the retail game as an alternate mode... Please add it as DLC! Would be really cool to have something different with the All-Stars

I had been hoping for a game like this for ages, and now that I finally got to play the beta, I can safely say: it's definitely a buy! :D

The only thing a bit wrong with it is that it should feature many many more characters, but you always have to start somewhere...

People keep saying this a flat copy needs to know without Goldeneyes 007 64 multiplayer Call of duty wouldn't exist. Nintendo copy some ideas too I turned on Crashs team racing and found out some features we're on there before Mario Kart 6. Leapfrog climbing over making it to the next step. No one appreciate Sony Eyetoy much but sure appreciate MS Kinect.

There were side scrolling platforms in the adventure mode of SSB melee that was pretty fun, and it played as races and battles that you had to get to the end of. I remember the adventure mode stages like FZero, Mushroom kingdom, Kirbys dream land, yoshi's Island, all having lengthy platform heavy side scrolling inspired maps that served this purpose in SSB Melee.

I loved those modes and would love if that concept made it over to PSASBR. I think it should be DLC :-)

There's no packaging and shipping to worry about, so I think game companies should charge less money for a downloadable copy. That's just my opinion, though... I'm sure someone else would agree with me.
