Shut Up And Buy XCOM: Enemy Unkown

XCOM is probably better than whatever you're playing right now. Buy it.

JsonHenry4622d ago

I refuse to buy anything else until I beat Torchlight 2, Borderlands, and Dishonored. The beta for Xcom ensured that I will be buying it one day soon though.

Godmars2904622d ago

I miss the days when the fate of a gaming genre didn't hinge on the sales of a single game because publishers couldn't stop focusing on dollar signs long enough to realize that multiple COD clones are stagnating the industry.

grailly4622d ago

it's the other way around. big publishers are pushing out boring shooters because people don't buy cool games like xcom.

I'm not sure we can say that xcom not selling is the big publisher's fault

Godmars2904622d ago (Edited 4622d ago )

but we will be able to blame publishers if the game sells fairly well and we don't see a sequel. There is a sequel but its dumb downed or even picks up FPS aspects.

Don't forget that one of the reasons we even got this was that fans exploded over the FPS that was basically an Xcom rip-off which has now either been postponed or quietly canceled.

b_one4622d ago

im too much in nostalgia to buy it for a full price or ever...

BlackTar1874622d ago

what?

If you like th game and want this type of thing to succeed spend the money support it

b_one4622d ago

no mate, i liked original...i still do, i still play

BlackTar1874621d ago

i still play the original too like once a year. I fail to see how this has anything to do with your anti support for items that seem to peak your interest. You want to by your own admission either wait till bargain bin(thats fine) but at all either implies you will try and get it for free which = not helpful for this type of product to succeed or are okay saying i love the original but don't care to ever try something you obviously have a track record of liking.

bumnut4621d ago

I played the original and think the new one is great, best game I have played in a long time.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown - A Welcome Rebirth

XCOM: Enemy Unknown rebooted the series back in 2012, and has since inspired numerous new strategy game series to be born.

shinoff2183599d ago (Edited 599d ago )

If someone gets into this I'd recommend getting the enemy within version. It's got all the dlc included so it's the better version. Wish the author would've atleast mentioned it. I didn't see it.

Fantastic game though. Xcom 2 is top notch also. I've spent countless hours in these games.

ModsDoBetter598d ago

Excellent game.
Played to death on PS3 years ago.

S2Killinit598d ago

What other games were inspired by this game?

JL2930598d ago

Gears Of War Tactics, Phoenix Point. Many others.

shinoff2183598d ago

Phoenix point if I remember was created by the original xcom developer or something to that affect. I did try gears tactics some months ago and I just couldn't get into it. It's probably just me

JL2930597d ago (Edited 597d ago )

It was, but it was really closer to the newer XCOM than the older ones. Gears Tactics was okay but was hard to get into knowing there probably wont be a sequel.

Absolutely incredible sales numbers.

shepherdzeMan1492d ago

deserves every cent! , no one works as hard as them.

GottaBjimmyb1492d ago

It honestly is mystifying to me. I thought GTA V was like ok. Technically impressive in some ways, sure, but kinda quick to become boring for me. Might be series fatigue, because I did probably play more GTA Vice City than any human ever should have.

chiefJohn1171492d ago (Edited 1492d ago )

Gta6 will be in vice city. Can't wait.
I would love for them to remake San Andreas. I played thru it more times than I can count. It capture the 90s Westcoast hood life perfect and had a all star cast. Then the huge map, and cool mini games and feats that changes the character. It's my top 3 favorite game if not #1

Michiel19891492d ago

@gotta i have the same thing, I just cant get into the newer GTA's anymore. I can tell they are still great games, but i personally prefer the older more arcady GTA games. Nothing beats hearing: KILL FRENZY and then u need to go on a rampage in your car ;)

Vice city was also my favorite, partly because of the multiplayer mod which I used to play a lot with my brother.

I wonder why EA never made a GTA clone considering they bought so many game developers and have so many licenses

roadkillers1492d ago

They tried, but when your competition makes a game that lasts two generations, whats the point

Lionsguard1492d ago

Yeah, we're never getting GTA6.

Knightofelemia1492d ago (Edited 1492d ago )

Rather have GTA 6 instead of milking the same game since 2013

Applejack1492d ago

As a gamer I agree but when you look at it in a business perspective, you’d be just fine with what these sales numbers and profits show. Why release the next game when this cash cow is still going 3 generations strong this coming November. Again, this is just a business perspective, not what I personally feel.

SlothLordPootus1491d ago

I know it won't happen, but I'm hoping for a GTA set in London, written by Guy Ritchie.

RedDevils1491d ago

There The Getaway for that.

XCOM Chimera Squad Review: Unexpected But Fantastic At Its Core | Gamer Matters

Nobody expected a new XCOM game getting announced for this year, and released so quick. And with quite radical changes, developer Firaxis has to temper expectations by stating it’s a spin-off, and it’s sold for cheap.

Like an FBI raid squad, XCOM Chimera Squad kicked opened the doors hard, and hits you strong and fast.
