It seems to me like the person reviewing it expecting an enhanced port or a remake entirely. This was always announced as an HD re-release of the original .

JoePrime4579d ago

I can only assume the "reviewer" isn't old enough to remember that SA2 was one of the best Sonic titles of it's time. Statements like " I hate this incomprehensible mess as much now as I did when I originally played it on the GameCube" lead me to believe this child of the modern age doesn't even appreciate that this title was released on the Dreamcast well before he had ever heard of it.

Then claiming that Sega "cut content to release as DLC" is also absurd. Should the "Battle" content been in the XBLA version for free? Sure, I agree. But they didn't "cut" anything - they released SA2 as it was originally released, and if you want the content that WAS ADDED later, you can add it. Nothing was "cut".

A hate and rage-fueled review of a game that is clearly before his generation is laughable at best. Good job trying to expand your gaming world, but hard fail at not being open to the realization that things existed before you.

HD wont make it any more fun than the original.. I have this & the first on gamecube still & not interested in buying it again.. I grew up playing sonic on genesis & the direction the series went, just isnt my cup of tea..

Huh, it's almost like they should try listening to fans that have asked for a new one over the last two decades... At this point, I've given up hope though honestly. Saw a lot of people loving Frontiers, but I could not get into it. It just felt so generic with the world and level designs. The thing I loved about the franchise was that each level felt unique with the colors, design, music, etc.

Also, don't you have to get a mod to even run this above 30 FPS on Steam? I recall someone on YouTube playing this for the first time and having a hard time getting things working. Sucks that such a beloved game is treated poorly.

SA2 was only good as Sonic. Knuckles levels were pure disaster.
SA1 was a far better game.

NotoriousWhiz132d ago

I actually liked the robotnik levels least of all. Knuckles wasn't too bad cause of the music lol.

DivineHand125132d ago

I agree the knuckle levels were the worst part of the game. It broke the flow of the gameplay and the music was off for a sonic game. It felt like those knuckle levels were made by a different dev.

The Sonic and tails levels, however, were awesome. The multiplayer mode was interesting and my brother and I spent hours

Still have SA2 Battle. Those Knuckles & Rouge stages aged very poorly but I still have fun with all the other character stages. Shame Sega doesn't seem interested. I can't imagine fans were clamoring for a mediocre Colors port over either SA game being ported.

i still have it for gamecube ps3 and ps4 haha.

good game, but chaannky. or the camera is anyways

It's like most devs will never actually atleast try to deliver a fan favorite title. Simpsons hit&run remake or sequel, bully 2, new sonic adventures title, another thoroughly made good batman singeplayer titles. Smh the list goes on

Ewwww 3D Sonic. Should be playing a good Sonic game. Heck even Sonic Spinball over that trash.

For someone like me that started playing games at late 90s it was heartbreaking to see what happened to SEGA. Good to hear this because how things were going in the last years for them. I remember the time when they closed a lot of arcades in Japan. Or even when Microsoft almost bought them several years ago.

Sgt_Slaughter897d ago

I have a feeling the sales will drop a ton the next week since everyone figured out it's barebones and a technical mess. Hype and name brand can only get you so far.

I wanted to like this game but they did everything possible to disappoint. Maybe they can use this as a stepping stone for a future title, but so far this isn't it.
