A Critical Hit!: "Sonic Adventure 2 is around the time when the Sonic franchise started to take a turn for the worse. Some people strongly believe that SA2 is one of the last – if not the best – of the “good” Sonic games. Each level in the game stars a different member of the Sonic cast, and they are tailored to the abilities of that character. Sonic and Shadow levels are fast, acrobatic affairs with lots of ramps, jumps and rails. Tails and Dr. Eggman both pilot giant mech suits, so their levels are more similar to a third-person shooter. Knuckles and Rogue each have stages where they must find hidden pieces of the Chaos Emerald, because they can climb and fly, I guess. It definitely helps put some variety into the game, but after the first few levels you’l start groaning every time you find out a stage doesn’t star Sonic or Shadow."
Sonic Frontiers has won over Japan after years of poor sales.
For someone like me that started playing games at late 90s it was heartbreaking to see what happened to SEGA. Good to hear this because how things were going in the last years for them. I remember the time when they closed a lot of arcades in Japan. Or even when Microsoft almost bought them several years ago.
I have a feeling the sales will drop a ton the next week since everyone figured out it's barebones and a technical mess. Hype and name brand can only get you so far.
I wanted to like this game but they did everything possible to disappoint. Maybe they can use this as a stepping stone for a future title, but so far this isn't it.
For over thirty years, Sonic the Hedgehog has provided memorable video game music and brought many artists from around the world together.
Phil writes, "Today, June 23rd, 2021, is Sonic the Hedgehog's 30th anniversary. 30 years ago today in 1991 a blue hedgehog named Sonic took the gaming world by storm with a spin dash, a too-cool-for-school attitude, and a hankering for chili dogs. SPC celebrates the occasion with a special top ten list, presenting the site's picks for the very best of the Blue Blur's biggest and boldest titles. After you've checked out the picks here, which Sonic games would you select as your personal favorites?"
wheres sonic 06 lol. I know im in the minority but if you can look past all the glitches I actually liked the game.
Hmmm, this is kinda cheating, but I would rate Sonic 3 & Knuckles as #1, rather than having the two games separately occupy #2 and #3.
That was literally the only game I played for YEARS.
In any order
Sonic Adventure 1
Sonic Adventure 2
Sonic Heroes
Sonic Shuffle
Sonic Generations
Sonic Lost World
Sonic Unleashed
Sonic the Hedgehog 2
Sonic CD
Sonic 3 & Knuckles
'Nother Sonic hater.....got anything new to say? should've just cut and pasted....
The reviewer really didn't go into much details as to why this is such a bad game. He just said it feels dated by today's standards and that he didn't enjoy the game.
I remember playing the good guys campaign a few years after it came out back when the gba was still around and it was a very entertaining game. The levels i enjoyed the most were the sonic levels and i liked the idea that he gained new abilities as you progressed through the game. The tails levels were also fun where you could take out hordes of enemies with his mech. The knuckle levels on the other hand were very long and boring with the terrible camera angles and awful music in the background. Also the sonic levels near the end suffered from bad camera angles that made it difficult to control which led to many unnecessary deaths. This is all from memory btw but i think that the target audience for this game which i believe is ages 10-16 will enjoy it.
D+ are u kidding? Didnt even mention the amazing soundtrack. Bad camera angles get over it and deal with it. Its not even difficult to figure out where your going. You groan because your not playing as Sonic or Shadow? Im willing to say SA2 is the best 3D sonic game.
Oh wow, I remember playing this aged about 10. Amazing.
