Many of you (or more likely very few of you) will recognize that James is not a sports game fanatic from discussions on the GameCast (GameAspect’s podcast). We often comment on sports games making the top charts for sales, weeks at a time while other well known titles drop off quickly. Often caught of guard at how sports games can out perform other main stream titles, James willingly admits his ignorance of sports titles. Now he's writing a review for FIFA 13, if not for his own education, then just for the opportunity to show his fellow editors on the podcast that Canada (EA Canada) does make good games. His conclusion? Read on to find out.
Games Asylum: "Outdated football games are a common sight when scouring jumble sales, car boots and charity shops for bargain price video games. Entire shelves filled with decade-old FIFA and PES games spread across a dozen formats. Often they end up in bargain bins, sitting alongside unwanted celebrity fitness DVDs and seemingly random TV show box sets. But here’s the thing. Not all football games gathering dust in the likes of Oxfam are in fact worthless."
Just who is buying FIFA 13 on Wii U? We may never know, but there are more people buying that than there are Bayonetta 2 and Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric.
Sonic Boom is riding off the popularity of the TV show; it's a bad game.
And as for FIFA?
Well, guess that goes to show that there's a lot of older gamers on Wii U that wanted FIFA, then; sports games generally do out-sell action games, and Platinum isn't known for large sales in the first place.
I'm not worried for Bayonetta. It'll hit that 1M mark by the middle of next year, surely, at its current pace.
