First Footage For Mojang's "0x10^c" Released

DSOGaming writes: "Markus 'Notch' Persson has released the first footage of Mojang's upcoming game, 0x10^c. This is a WIP footage, and does not show much, apart from some physics, bobbing, and guns. 0×10^c is said to take place in a hard science fiction world and will feature lots of engineering, a fully working computer system, space battles against the AI or other players. Players will be able to seamlessly land on planets and there will be an advanced economy system. There will also be random encounters, as well as mining, trading, and looting. Enjoy!"

way to take full advantage of a PC's power by creating something that looks like it was made in the early 90's...

i mean, this style works for minecraft (as much as i loathe the game, the artistic direction they took with it actually works), but come on....

that's why you're supposed to have designers/artists on your dev team. you don't need to make horrible excuses like "oh, but he's a coder, not an artist so it's okay", especially when he's been raking in the cash from his other game. he can surely afford to hire a few people to make the game look amazing.

You must remember though that it is a huge galaxy with no load times plus travelling from space to planets no load times. Many players will probably be in at the same time. Explorable ships and non player ai. Plus the random things like trying to hold your ship together with anything you can find etc...

This will all start taking a toll, even minecraft on 360 wasn't allowed an unlimited area (let alone a galaxy like this) plus I am sure the aim is to get as many players to be able to run the game as possible.

Ok, obviously he's sticking with voxels in order to retain the building functionality that people are so fond of. Plus, he can have extremely large play areas by keeping the memory footprint low. This game isn't about AAA graphics, the game is centred around customization, building, and programming your own ship.

It won't take long for the game's community to discuss this on their forums...

What's for sure is that "Zero by ten to the c" won't work.
And what about other languages! Here in France, I'm used to hearing "Meencraft" everyday, and even though it makes me want to explode, it is still comprehensible.
"Zéro fois dix puissance c"...Ahh! No, thanks.

On topic, there's not much we can tell from this video .
It does look a lot like Minecraft, and lightning appears to be nicely implemented, but we're going to need in-game footage to understand how the player's gun-thingy works and how important platforming will be.

it's not even that. the 0x is usually used to name a spot in a computer's memory. You never say the name and if you do, you just say what comes after the 0x.
then for the 10^c I don't know what it is.

Must admit it looks bland and I have no idea what the hell is going on. The person playing looks as confused as me but I trust that they know what they are doing. They have a lot of expectations to live up too.
