Sony layoffs do more harm than good

Examiner writes: In the wake of heavy pink-slips, Sony scrambles to find a sense of urgency and relevance during a console cycle that has seen more downs than ups for the gaming titan.

It doesn’t take brain surgery to know that Sony has had a rough go around this console generation.

And as a CEO of Sony you know for a fact that laying off employees will do more harm then good right? And of course people are still taking the word of a probably disgruntled ex employee. Oh yeah he is definitely a unbiased, impartial source. 'Sony is crap and no it has nothing to do with me losing my job'

Another example of a journalism with no background in the business world speaking about business related stuff and taking a disgruntled employee as unbiased view point

I am going to ague the flip side of this for argument sake. Isn't the lay offs good for the next generation. Why have the crap team who hasn't exactly done very well start off a new console

"While Sony's electrical equipment divisions, including its TV and digital camera businesses, account for more than half of sales, the main sectors contributing to operating profits are the finance and entertainment divisions. Four straight years of net losses show that the electrical equipment sector has been eating up all the profits generated by its profitable businesses."

Oh look right there

"Four straight years of net losses show that the electrical equipment sector has been eating up all the profits generated by its profitable businesses"

which parts are at profit:

"the main sectors contributing to operating profits are the finance and entertainment divisions."

so over 8 years of loss from the TV section and over 4 years from the electrical equipment part..and yet the people keep harping Sony's playstation will close down..lol

where do people think the major cut's are going?

Not playstation that's for sure

though:

cutting some internal PR department to outsource their PR going forward will save them Money. That's why their doing it.

Nice cut and Paste joeorc

This sort of news really isn't helping Sony any what with word of mouth as well contributing to that general feeling that they aren't what they used to be. Not that people will listen to a word of it of course being that it's all rosy in Sonyland

Hopefully the Playstation brand wont go down the toilet but things are seemingly not looking good for them

" Not that people will listen to a word of it of course being that it's all rosy in Sonyland "

what Rosy SonyLand? where? not that i see , i mean it's one thing to point out fault's, but when they do not point out the full information, and paint a partial picture, than the info they are putting out is not being truthful is it now?

posting the info is not the problem, its the "FUD" being used as a lever to drive people one direction toward a conclusion that only shows half of the story.

if your going to report the News at least be truthful about it, not tainted truth.

layoffs do not "do" anything. They are an effect, not a cause.

Layoffs can decimate the morale of a companies workforce and can be very disruptive. Typically those that keep there positions are asked/expected to take on more responsibility for no additional remuneration.
