An Honorable Interview with Dishonored’s Julien Roby: “People get bored of playing the same thing”

OXCGN:

"The game looking most likely to be the surprise hit of the year is the new IP from Arkane Studios,Dishonored.

Three of our staff have previewed and played the game and all three have emerged impressed.

Here we interview Julien Roby, Arkane Studios’ Executive Producer to find out how this refreshing experience has come about."

Not long to go now. I really hope this game lives up to what it looks like. So many previewers have been saying it is good though.

After skyrim I wouldn't buy it day 1. Even reviewers were wrong about the ps3 version. Pete Hines has already been caught lying about the ps3 version of thIs being played at pax. ..it was an Xbox build.
Same lIes he told for skyrim. I know it's "arkane" but it's still GAMEBRYO engine.

It's UE3, not Gamebryo. Totally different engine.

We get that you're bitter about Skyrim on PS3, but your attempts to drag down Dishonored are getting old. For fans of Thief and Deus Ex (not to mention Arkane's past work, such as the excellent Arx Fatalis and Dark Messiah), this game looks amazing.

This and ACIII are at the top of my list for this year!

So true about people getting bored. All those corridor games that tell you "follow", "hurry up" do this do that like we are in an interactive movie instead of a game...

I was hoping the guy would take some of those questions and run with them a bit. Interesting questions, though. Very excited to see how Dishonored delivers on its promises.

BootHammer4235d ago

New IP's mean new experiences and Dishonored looks likely to impress come this October!

BadCircuit4235d ago (Edited 4235d ago )

Yeah I think I'll invest in this just because it sounds and looks so cool, and see if COD or MOH are actually a bit different this time (as in more gameplay less explosion and movie).

I'm more of a single player person anyway.

I went and placed my preorder yesterday when I realised I hadn't already.

Dishonored looks to be the first of many great games coming out very soon.

There are some interesting pre-order packs: tarot cards, keychains I think...

The Magic of 'Dishonored’s' Blink

It’s a shame, really, that so few games have “borrowed” Dishonored’s Blink – in the right hands, such a power could be game-changing.

It felt kinda cheap to me… both in terms as a tactic, and game design

Abnor_Mal433d ago (Edited 433d ago )

There was a small game called Aragami that “borrowed” the blink, that was a good game.

Unfortunately I heard the sequel wasn’t good so I stayed away from trying it out.

sairenfox2099431d ago

The sequel changed some of the mechanics from the first game but it was still a very polished and enjoyable experience. You should definitely give it a shot sometime. The game's currently on sale on Steam

Abnor_Mal431d ago

Okay thanks for the heads up, will look out for it being on sale one day.

I really did like the first and played it back to back as soon as I finished the first play through.
