The recent price drop for the Xbox 360 HD-DVD Player from $179.99 to $129.99 announced today by Major Nelson could have spurred amazon.com to drop the price even lower for the Deal of the Day to $79.99 (Now Sold Out!) taking the Xbox 360 HD-DVD Player to the top of Amazon’s Movers & Shakers List, now sitting at #1 (was 513) up 51,200% and still rising. This is pretty huge news for Toshiba and the HD-DVD format that was sure to die a quick death after the recent news of Warner Bros going Blu-Ray.
So is buying an HD-DVD add on for the Xbox 360 a good choice since the format war appeared as though HD-DVD had lost? X2theG think so! Don’t write them off just yet, the sales this week could breathe new life into Toshiba’s losing format and could possibly win the consumers over in the end. Plus you get 6 movies FREE with the purchase of the player. Basically you’re getting the HD-DVD add-on player for free when you buy the 6 movies is one way to look at it. Not a bad deal even if the format war ends with Blu-Ray the winner.
