Best Sequels in Modern Gaming

From the PlanetPlaystation.com feature article:

"In today’s gaming industry, video game sequels are becoming more common in place of truly original titles with the few exceptions of highly anticipated titles such as The Last of Us. Some gamers have been outspoken against so many sequels, especially when many series have began shipping out sequels on an annual basis it seems. Sequels don’t have to be a bad thing however, and there are many great titles that have been released in this generation alone that are truly worthy of being mentioned among the best sequels ever, and here are just a few of these excellent titles."

It is true, not all are bad...

Red Dead REDEMPTION isn't a sequel though is it? Very good game though.

Darksiders 2 was very good, going to play it later today (crucible mode).

Darksiders has HEAPS of potential, and I think they brought a lot to the table with number 2 (poo joke incoming). Hopefully with the 3rd (granted they make a 3rd) they can perfect their ideas.

God Of War 3 was amazing. although I don't like CoD, I saw the eiffel tower collapse and have to admit it looked pretty awesome. Might rent it some time.

im still waiting on the announcement of Hulk Hogans Main Event 2.

Max Payne 3 is master pro. I enjoyed the first 2 IMMENSELY and the 3rd seems reminiscent of the first two, but with the Rockstar touch. I have all 3 btw. I think it should have made this list, personally.

Activision's Transformers Games Have Been Relisted On Xbox And Steam Stores

Activision's Transformers games have been relisted on the Xbox and Steam stores, suggesting they could be available in the future.

Inverno17d ago

Aw snap, i pirated the first game since I couldn't get it on steam but couldn't get it to work. Guess i don't gotta go out of my way now. Now if only SONY worked with em to port over Edge of Time or remastered Shattered and Edge.

The bots have returned!

*slow dramatic falling to the floor*

"please add .com" what a well mannered bot.

WTF? I’ve been wanting to replay Fall/War games. So bummed they didn’t make em backwards compatible. I think imma have to dig out my 360 out of storage

P_Bomb16d ago

Really wish they’d finish off the Fall/War run as a trilogy. The IP’s being wasted on mediocre games.

CobraKai16d ago

Yeah. Didn’t they try and merge the movie game and the Cybertron game for Dark of the Moon or something?

P_Bomb16d ago

I think they tried, but that’s one game I never played. Which is funny cuz I have the other movie games. Last TF game I bought was Devastation.

FinalFantasyFanatic16d ago

I really loved those games, I have them on my Steam account, but I wish they made more games like that.

ActualWhiteMan16d ago

Definitely don’t see them on steam…

Both requels over 2 and 3? Clowns. Those are two of the most boring games I've ever played.

Snookies12256d ago

GoW 3 was amazing, but I personally hated just one thing. (This is on me alone, because I was dumb, lol.) I hated that you couldn't skip cutscenes on repeat playthroughs. I had to go back through the game a third time because I missed one trophy accidentally on my way to the platinum... The cutscenes were great the first go round, even the second... But the third was pretty agonizing.

Haven't played Ragnarok, but I still think GoW 4 is a wonderful game in its own right. Not sure how I would stack them up against each other honestly.

Monstieur256d ago (Edited 256d ago )

I don't consider the reboot part of the original series. The original series were high-skill games with combos and rewards for mixing things up.

solideagle256d ago

lol square, square and triangle is the only combo you needed. I have played all of them on the hardest difficulties...

Golfcoachh256d ago

Maybe I’m just old school but I just couldn’t get into the last two. Maybe it’s the slower action and more story telling but the original trilogy was by far my favorite.

Crows90256d ago

It's not that youre old school. They're different genres

JL2930255d ago (Edited 255d ago )

Me either, at all. It's just yap yap yap. They try to be a RPG's instead of being action games like they used to be.
