Normally I would agree, but in these screen (like many devs) were probably taken directly from the pc version. Secondly games like Just Cause 2, Infamous 2, Mafia 2, Rage etc. all look better just from the screens. "As usual, R* North know their stuff when it's about textures. They are very nice. The rest is okay; not mind blowing but it's an open world. Don't expect something more on a current-gen open world now". We dont even know how this plays, plus screens can be edited to high heaven. Devs can take an in game shot of the pc version, or take a console shot turn up the resolution, edit the hell out of it, then re-downscale the resolution and make it look incredible (an example of this is watching a 1080p or 720p video on youtube while its NOT in full screen....it looks fantastic!

Watch Dogs is likely a next gen title and even if it does come out this gen it's not going to look anywhere near that good on consoles.

@angels, these screens most likely are taken from the PC version but I doubt the console versions will look much different to PC. They'll just have lower resolution and shorter draw distance.

I've played JC2, Infamous 2 etc and TBH I think this looks a fair bit better. Nothing to write home about afterall there's not much more devs can do with current gen hardware but it's still looks rather nice overall.

edit: Looking forward to ICEnhancer mods for this. I will likely need to upgrade at some point as I can barely run BF3 and GTA4 (which was a bad port).

Dang new screenshots? Didnt expect the release of screen shots so close to the last batch i thought they were old. They look pretty darn polished to me too. GTA V is really gathering steam the November release is date is looking more and more likely. I expect a confirmed release date of December within the next 3 weeks. I hope I'm right those screens look amazing!

2. I find Grand Theft Auto IV extremely fun, E.G having huge wars with the police, Either in single player or in multiplayer. Racing, either in single or multiplayer or just generally pissing about.

I also think GTA IV has one of the most replayable Campaigns this gen. Ive finished it at least 12 times. Thats not including the to expansions that i have finish almost as much.

Ive played all 3 Saints rows and loved the 1st, Liked the 2nd hated the third. Because the 1st one was actually challenging, the second started to get a little easy and i dont think i even died when beating the second.

Games are only fun if there is a degree of difficulty to them.

I think the only exception i can think of to this is Minecraft

GTA IV was probably the landmark game of the 360/PS3's early years. It's mature story, physics, graphics, gameplay & sound still eclipse most games released in the intervening years.

And R* has continued to polish this formula with Max Payne 3 & Red Dead, creating two great games, which will no doubt be reflected in GTA 5's quality.

No one here hates GTAIV because of what it does...we hate it because of what it wasn't doing. GTAIV does all those thing better i know, but it forgot to be the most important thing....a GTA game first!

GTAIV was utter crap compared to other GTA games, its the lessor. Small city, boat loads of missing features, buggy in a lot of areas, the frame rate would drop quite a bit in fire fights etc. It was really just a GTA that had so many missing elements to it that the last GTA games did so well with.

Now if GTASA or GTAVC didn't exist then i guess it would had been a better game not knowing would one would be missing. And I agree with any of the Saints Row games being better then GTAIV, and i'm a HUGE GTA fan and i would still agree. I beat it in 30 Hours and then that was it. I just went through the main quest and the game was done. I put over 120 hours in GTASA and loved every minute of it.

I was expecting GTAIV to be gimped based on knowing they where using the same format as DVD9, but Rockstar didn't say much about that before the games release (obviously). But the game turned out pretty bad. On its own merits, its a great game, but once its compared to GTASA or really any of the past GTA's...its over.

GTASA was 5.2GB, GTAIV was 6.8GB, this is the reason for why it was gimped. I'm calling right now, you can copy and paste this all day every day, the reason for GTAIV being so small, featureless and lackluster has to do with lack of space. GTAV has all those features for a reason, they now have more room.

The 360 version is going to have 3 or 4 disk and be a mandatory install. I'm calling this right now. There NO WAY that this game is on a single disk (because thats what hurt GTAIV to begin with) GTAV doesn't seem to have that issue just based on what was shown.

GTAIV was the first of 2 things. The first time a GTA game was being made using THE SAME SPACE as last gen and the first time a GTA game released with less features then the last clearly this is no coincidence.

GTAV by default will be better then GTAIV without even playing it most fans know that. JUST by the features that we see returning.

GTAIV will go down in history as the worst GTA.

Why?

GTASA- GTAIV- GTAV- GTAVI. Now look at those games. GTAV has from what we've seen a large number of features that where in GTASA and more.

GTASA clearly is the biggest GTA game to date in terms of space AND features.

GTAIV had neither.

GTAVI will go beyond that, having GTAV's features and more (if they don't try to make it on a gimped and limited format that is)

Now this is why GTAIV will be remembered that way. I said it before and i'll say it again, GTA fans don't hate GTAIV because of what it does and what it is...its because of what its NOT doing that has made fans upset and what it isn't. We can say "well Rockstar wanted to make there game a little different" .....really? LMFAO! REALLY! So them making a game using the same format and it having so little features are some how just a coincidence?

SMFH. But as soon as MS gives them the okay for a mandatory install and some more disk NOW they have a "change of heart" and want to bring features back? Oh by choice? As if they just didn't want to with GTAIV? I tell you this, why take out tanks? Why take out bicycles? Why take out so many weapons? the ability to dive? etc Are those some how not real things and just "GTASA" features? Those features are not just "SA" features, they are feature for the whole series. Why take those out? So if i could do something like open the trunk in GTAV why not in GTAVI? Oh thats just TOO much of a GTAV feature! LMFAO!

i own every single GTA 2 times each (digital and physical)

i started playing san andreas again and holy crap, its so much better, it even messes around with conspiracy theories like area 51, aliens, and secret religions.

hopefully GTA V will bring the same stuff from GTA SA so i can continue my hunt for myths and mysteries!

I don't like saint's row much either but I find it more enjoyable than GTA because SR dosen't take itself seriously. I get bored with them both fast because the world focused on the openness (which is great nothing wrong with that) but it has no direction. The stories suck and there is no side stuff beside driving around running from cops and gang members.

Ok, well considering the story mode of GTA 4 was around 30 hours in length (around 20 hours more-so than your average linear game), I don't know what you should be complaining about & you do realize that Rockstar also created RDR, possibly the best story (and arguably, game) in modern gaming.

I think you need your eyes checked. Those are console shots.

The draw distance isn't that good, and a lot of the supporting textures are quite blurry.

Vanilla GTAIV looks better than those screens with the settings turned up. I highly doubt Rockstar would downgrade their graphics after five years of optimizing their engine.

I can't wait to get this on PC and turn the graphics up to maximum.

That said, I will get it on console to play with friends also.

Seriously though, take a good look at those screens, they have to be console, or else Rockstar has them running a mid range PC at low settings.

It's the same with every game. You kind of get used to it.. So I fear GTAV will be the same, a fair share of detail will be lost in the retail game. A lot of the screenshots are heavily photoshopped or are target renders.

anyone else have a feeling this will be a next gen game? i know it looks good(not mind blowing), but i mean more in terms of the supposed scale and content. i just have a tough time accepting this will be for current consoles.

I think people will want to argue that there is a lager install base for current gen,meaning more sales compared to next gen early adopters buying the game. but i feel as if it would be a bit redundent to work on a follow up to GTA 4 for so long and release it in 2013, when the next gen console are assumed to come out.

It would make it a old gen game as soon as the new consoles released. Not too mention it would incentivise people to want to go purchase the new Playstation or Xbox or Wii U. I just don't buy that a new GTA that most likely isn't coming out this year, is ending up on current gen consoles in 2013, which will most likely be the year the next gen consoles will debut. Just doesn't make sense for the longevity of the game, or why Rockstar would wait so long to release the game.

Hope it's as good as vice city. Still the best GTA in my view. Ok San Andreas had more to do but vice city tapped into those classic gangsta films like scarface and carlitos way and delivered a soundtrack that is unsurpassed in gaming to this day. The story and atmosphere of vice city lifts it above anything other GTA games. San Andreas was fun don't get me wrong and I can understand anyone in their twenties or younger preferring SA but if you were raised in the 80s then vice city becomes something else, the atmosphere and locations stick in your brain even after all these years after completing it.

I was a big fan of GTA4 but the grid like streets that all blurred into one and god awful soundtrack made it less atmospheric than some of the older games.

These new screenshots and locations in no5 look like a return to form for rockstar but I really hope they look long and hard at the soundtrack for this as modern pop music isn't all that great these days so they have their work cut out setting the game in modern times.
