A few things that Bethesda seems to have left behind that I happen to miss about the series.
Mostly the only thing that was lost was the application of imagination to the narrative, setting and art design. And to be fair, that wasn't exactly present in the earlier games, either, so rather than calling Morrowwind emblematic of the "peak" of the franchise, the pinnacle of TES quality as some gamers do, rather consider it an aberration.
morrowind is for sure, the peak of the scrolls games, with oblivion a close second, with a few mods morrowind looks better than skytrim on consoles! http://www.youtube.com/watc...
You can't seriously think that this video shows superior graphics to Skyrim on consoles. It's not even close mate.
You obviously have not played on a console since Shenmue. Still, amazed that a PC game from 2002 can look like that.
Great article. So many good points. Wish they had put in a hardcore mode with no compass and the requirements of sleep, food, and water consumption. I miss the spell maker. Level scaling enemies do suck much of the sense of progression out to.
I totally agree, with the hardcore suggestion and spellmaker anyway. I'm kind of hitting myself now for not including that in this article. Thanks for the positive feedback.
Damn straight. On the guilds - In Morrowind there were some distinct choices. You couldn't be both the master of the thieves and the fighters guild, and you could only join one of the three houses. Choices like that give replay value.
