Shadowrun Online Has One Day Left On Kickstarter, $100,000 To Go

Gaming Blend "Gamigo and Cliffhanger Productions are in the final stretches of the Shadowrun Online Kickstarter campaign. The game has one full day left, 24 hours, two dozen 60 minute sessions or the amount of time it takes Mickey Rourke and Charlie Sheen to come down off the high and realize that they're no longer epic-winning. Nevertheless, Shadowrun Online still needs your help to hit its Kickstarter goal."

Getting a bit sick of kickstarter already. The maker of pitfall and co founder of activision who hasnt been involved in the industry since 1994 wants 900k hope he doesnt get it.

Nah your just a hater. Why not give people the opportunity to make money and you to play games? Respect choice and don't wish bad things on people. That is not a normal way of thinking.

It's not a nice feeling to make a game over a couple months and/or years and just fail.

Once these games all get developed, people are going to see there's still risk involved in throwing money at someone. No guarantee they'll make a good game. The premise might be good, but so have a lot of games that turned out to be just plain bad.

And Cheetahmen 2 being made on carts for 60 grand when there's already a working version of the ROM of the terrible game.

Once the games start releasing and half of them are garbage, Kickstarter will see the backlash to the level it SHOULD be operating on. Don't worry; people will start actually LOOKING INTO the background of the projects and being reserved in what/who they put money into. And hopefully people start reserving for games that start with some of the game being done and demonstrable.

Well, the beauty of KickStarter is that you don't have to participate. It's like a bad movie, you never have to watch it. Or a bad book, you never have to read it. Or a bad video game, you never have to play it.

It's not forced upon you.

SilentNegotiator4695d ago

Ignorance isn't always the answer to something that's troubled. Like a system of people paying for a game that could be crap or from frauds or people looking to make a quick buck off an old, crap game that AVGN made famous.

"Just ignore it, you don't have to get involved" isn't the answer here. The industry has gotten into something that has a lot of pitfalls.

*** Like a system of people paying for a game that could be crap or from frauds or people looking to make a quick buck off an old, crap game that AVGN made famous.***

Or, you know, the usual stuff put out on consoles and PC as it is?

No one said you had to be ignorant, but that doesn't man others can't do what they want with their money, ignorant or not. And, KickStarter is not expanding beyond Indie Developer level of development as it is. No publishers have gotten involved.

I also think it a bit premature to decide on the future of KickStarter when it's only a few months old when it comes to video game development support.

"And, KickStarter is not expanding beyond Indie Developer level of development as it is"

And plenty of publishers have been rubbing their mitts together, considering using Kickstarter as a means to make even more money. Give it a few months for something to be announced to the tune of EA, Acti, etc.

Christopher4695d ago

@Silent: That is an indie project. DoubleFine are doing it all in-house. They are not using a publisher. So, yeah, still Indie.

Once publishers get in on this, I will agree that it's gone too far. I don't think it will get that far, though. Well, I don't hope at the least.

So, it doesn't look good, and they ALREADY did one, but I've seen slightly crazier things happen in the last 12 hours of a Kickstarter than $45K swooping in just as the buzzer sounds. (Like Zombicide, Ogre, Kings of War, and Sedition Wars)
