Remembering…Wario Land
ThunderBolt: Nintendo has a subversive streak. It’s not readily apparent, but it occasionally bubbles to the surface when Nintendo indulges it in the Mario & Luigi series of RPGs and the handful of Wario Land titles on the original GameBoy and GameBoy Advance. Instead of playing as the self-righteous plumber, players were cast as his greedy twin. Wario’s entire mission in life is to get rich, so much so that he’s more obsessed with that than his getting revenge for the walloping he received from Mario in Super Mario Land 2.
